Canada’s federal economic update gives no hope for the tens of thousands of families who are looking for affordable licensed child care. Canada’s economy can’t hold let alone grow without more investment in child care.

In less than an hour, the Ontario Auditor General will release a special report on the implementation (in Ontario) of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care program. The Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care and I will both be responding, as will many others, I am sure #cdnchildcare

Thank you BC childcare advocates for encouraging your provincial government to extend the childcare funding agreements. NB government has just assured NB advocates that it favours an extension. I bet most other provinces and territories do as well.

Strength in labour & household incomes does not fit with the 'everything is broken' storyline. For sure, many people face real financial struggles & hardship (eg. housing). But things are clearly getting better, not worse. Regardless of your party politics, this is a good thing.
