but whatever happens in brazil in the next few years can make the conjuncture wildly different too. not even that far - whatever happens on the 25th can already very strongly disprove this read. all that matters is whether enough actors will move against this international push to the right or not

i think it -feels- that way solely bc of Bolsonaro and the worker's party becoming more and more neoliberal, it feels that way bc there are forces that want it to BE this way because they see the US as a model to be copied & there aren't strong enough forces to oppose it

i think that any read of brazil's politics that reduce it to "it's just the US on a 2-year delay" is not just incredibly reductionist, but also wrong. there are many things that makes brazil wildly different than the US materially - brazil's ethnic, class, political party makeup is very different

probably, but Dragon Slayer II doesn't do combat in side-view though... the way your character moves and attacks in Buster though is extremely like, "Zelda II was looking at this"

fyi: when japanese game devs talk about "specs" and "specifications", it usually means "features", as in, "the game will receive a huge update to its features/feature set" - this could just mean more gadgets but i think it's likely things like a new mode, new crossworlds, balance changes, etc

Other interesting bits: - His mechanical designs for Sonic 3 were purposefully made to look "budget-like", few parts, oversized screws everywhere and lots of unpainted pure metallic bits, bc he figured Eggman had limited resources having crash-landed the Death Egg on Angel Island.

Mentions Votoms and Layzner as the biggest influences on Mecha Sonic MK-II's design. Yasushi Yamaguchi (Tails' designer) also mentions them both when making his designs for Sonic 2. Did Sonic Team have VHSes of these anime around the american office?? Very peculiar

Went to work for Treasure after his tenure at SEGA, having worked on titles such as Astro Boy Omega Factor and Gunstar Super Heroes... But also Bangai-O Spirits, which has an enemy that's surprisingly like Mecha Sonic Mk-II... which he clarifies is definitely not a concidence

Cream & Blaze comic

Panel 1: Cream has a big tray of hot baked brownies that he's holding up to Blaze, she says, "blaze-san! ❤︎ let's split these edibles together~!". Blaze looks away while grasping her own shoulder shyly "i d-don't know cream, aren't you like 5 or something"

Panel 2: POV from behind Blaze, Cream has her hand on Blaze's shoulder with an innocent big sparkly look to her eyes. "it's no longer 2003. i'm 6, now. don't be a narc." Blaze answers "a-alright then"

Panel 3: Blaze and Cream are sitting on a couch. Blaze is sitting politely on the couch, munching on a brownie bite, holding the rest of the brownie on her hand, she's looking at it worried. Cream is holding a huge stack of brownies. From behind the couch, Silver pops up with a concerned smile: "hey everyone!!!!!!! t-that's a lot of brownies...! i guess i'll have some...!" Cream looks up at Silver replying "hi silver!!!! no you won't :) you're tripsitting"

Panel 4: Blaze's having a bad high. Her eyes are cloudy and irritated, she holds her head like she's having a headache and she has a slouched posture. Tiny hallucinations of Marine the Raccoon are circling around her head saying "werent we gonna get high together?" and "you promised!". Cream is also high but in high spirits, holding a copy of the movie Possession (1981, dir. Andrzej Żuławski) up to Blaze. Blaze says: "i... i think i gotta be alone for a minute...", Cream replies: "nuh-uh, we're watching possession i love that movie". Silver is on the other side of the panel looking at Blaze across from Cream, shrugging his shoulders with his hands up in the air with a concerned expression.

Panel 5: The three of them are sitting in a couch watching the movie. Blaze has a horrified expression with her mouth agape. Cream is sinking into the couch with her eyes half-lid and a small smile, ears drooping in front of her but not obstructing her vision. She has a bong next to her. Silver is crying behind the couch, hands on his face, tears and fluids dripping between his fingers and exploding out of the sides of his hands.
