Eye popping. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft. Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

Our statement on the UK gov't's demand that all content on all devices sold or used in the UK be scanned, on the presumption of nudity, using a dystopian combination of age verification & content scanning. This proposal will not safeguard children. It endangers us all. signal.org/blog/pdfs/20...

Almost 3 years since editable.website won 2nd place at @sveltesociety.dev SvelteHack. Since then, I’ve been busy turning this from a prototype into something solid. A way to build CMS-free, in-place editable websites using only Svelte. This is v2. 🥳

I didn't realize that they had such overstock and that it was costing the DVS. We already have all 5 issues. They're good. We strongly recommend getting a copy if you work in dataviz.
The gale
Nightingale newsletter, from the Data Viz Society

A home for every story

Since we launched the print edition of Nightingale, our goal has been to create a physical record of the craft, culture, and community of data visualization. These aren't just magazines; they are time capsules of the ideas shaping our industry.

However, we have a challenge, and we want to be transparent with you about it.

Right now, our warehouse is overstocked. While we love seeing these issues stacked high, the reality is that we simply cannot afford the ongoing storage costs. If we can’t find homes for these copies soon, they risk being disposed of—a heartbreak for our team and a waste of the incredible work within their pages. We don't want these issues to disappear. We want them on your coffee tables, in your studios, and used as inspiration for your next project.

To help clear the shelves and get these copies into the hands of people who value them, we’re offering 20% off all print issues through Sunday, February 14th.

    The Details:

The Offer: 20% off print magazines

        The Code: SAVE20

The Deadline: Midnight on Sunday, Feb 14th

By grabbing a copy today, you aren't just getting a discount—you’re helping the Data Visualization Society remain sustainable and ensuring that these physical artifacts of our history continue to exist.

Thank you for being part of this community and for helping us keep the print tradition alive.

Warmly,
The Nightingale Editorial Team

All charts in here use @driven-by-data.net‘s new Svelteplot library (svelteplot.dev). Fun to use and quick responses to issues and requests. Thanks for your continued great work! Link (German): www.derstandard.at/story/300000...

Last week I had the pleasure of finally releasing the #SveltePlot alpha version during my talk at the #SvelteSummit in Barcelona. It's a new visualization framework for @svelte.dev that I've been working on for the past 18 months, so it's about time for a 🧵
