Emancipation Day felt like a small but important step towards that dream. The system never feels more than a few steps behind me, always a threat, but I’m holding these moments of freedom and joy close and hoping they will be more frequent, last longer, and include more people. 4

The other week, I celebrated “Emancipation Day” to mark two years out of hospital and dream of emancipatory and liberatory futures. I tore up the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act and turned it into a piñata which we soon smashed. 2/4

Hey suicide prevention, how about every time you encourage people to “seek professional help” you also add the disclaimer that we will likely be patronised and either ignored or incarcerated if we dare speak our truth or don't want to do your coercive safety plans.🧵
