Based on what we know about population trends that seems like a bad model. Think of it as working toward a place where, after paying the bank for 30 years, it will be relatively difficult for capital to evict you from so you can die in peace. 1262
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 08/10/2026The left sees more clearly in being angrier at the slave-drivers than at Nat Turner. Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran & co, nasty or not, are all just reactions to US and Israeli choices. It's deeply childish to pretend that these entities would be as negative or even exist without empire's choices. 021

Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Yup. Those who think other countries have agency on the world stage simply haven't read enough. 000
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Why did he fail to do what his daddy did? Why do you think it's better that our intervention led to 500,000 deaths rather than the 20,000 of Hama in 1982? 210
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 07/10/2026The US created the war, yes. We turned a shitty dictator into a worse one. 100

Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Oh, I am an American. My vote, and my ability to steer the votes of my people is the only hope we have of reining in the US government. 000
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I can try to educate, but just get called a war criminal for my efforts. Sigh. It would be less disappointing if morons like you weren't running important parts of the US government. 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Like the guys who almost took Damascus spent more time fighting each other than Assad. 000
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I want more freedom. I want the US to exercise less coercion. It would make the US (& the world) safer and more powerful. 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Oh you clearly weren't paying any attention at all in the 2010s. The rebels were all fuck up until we helped them consolidate under Al Qaeda in Idlib. 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Not sure where you get the impression I liked Assad. His days were numbered long before we launched the war. Honestly the war might have kept him in power longer. 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Small manner of China and the Soviet Union you're leaving out there. And our sanctions architecture was nowhere near as developed as it is today. Secondary sanctions didn't exist until the 1990s and had massive pushback until 9/11. 000
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Love the contrast between my common sense statement based on historical facts, and your fanatic woke imperialism. 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Yes, only the US has agency. Those who think otherwise just haven't read enough. 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Yes, they got put on a timeout, protected by Turkey, funded by the US, and sat back as the US Treasury Department crushed Assad's Syria into dust. Not sure what we are arguing about here? 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Yes. The Syrian regime was a hollow shell 4 years after winning the war because of the US Caesar sanctions. 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026You certainly have a lot of confirmed ideas about what I believe. Erroneous, alas. 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026No my ideal would have been South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Poland, or any one of a number of places that had far worse dictators that were bribed out of power. 500k dead & Al Qaeda in charge was a US choice. 110
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Incorrect. The Jihadists that turned Syria into hell were all US and Gulf (US ally) funded. 200
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Almost all of them got on a bus to Idlib. Then the Turks kept Asaad out of Idlib. 100

Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I don't see any lying. Just an unwise overcorrection in who he chooses to trust. The service to power here is your adopting a position that helps the pro-genocide and pro-war elites silence a dissident voice. 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Not what I said, but it's been pretty clear you are low on reading comprehension. 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Your chronology is off. Barrel bombing, chemical weapons use, these are all evil acts of desperation Assad's regime resorted to AFTER years of US & Gulf sponsored Jihad war. In 2011, it was mostly Assad's soldiers dying as he tried concessions. (Assad always sucked, but war makes everything worse) 100
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Only the US has agency in international relations, yes. Every country has some levers it can pull in its own territory, but the US is in charge. 200
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026He is a brave truth-teller. I think he also takes what I believe to be some incorrect positions on some SA questions. I am an adult, so I take the good with the bad. There are a lot of scrupulously 100% correct people on SA who support mass murder in the Middle East. 200
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026A lot of thinkers I like pride themselves in questioning prominent ideas. "Always believe women" is a prominent idea I agree with. "Dissenters from US empire must always be destroyed no matter the cost" is a hegemonic idea I want to fight. 000
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Yeah, that bugs me too. I think there's a case to be made that "woke 1" had some excesses, but that's no reason to dive into every controversy from an anti-victim perspective. Grim & a few other thinkers I like sometimes fall into this trap. 200
Robert Morris @morefreedom.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I am just smarter than you. There were an array of victims in the war in Syria that the US started. The most powerful actor in sponsoring a war deserves the blame. 100
