Werewolves are well-known to be prime caregivers to their brood along being attentive to the children of their packs. Bringing the shame to notorious monkey/fruit picker slackers!

@locktowndog.bsky.social Midwinterblot. Found it via a Netflix Sweden TV series. Called Blood Sacrifice. Midvinterblot (" Midwinter Blót/Sacrifice"), oil painting by Carl Larsson in Swedish National Museum of Fine Arts, Stockholm. Wikipedia shares an interesting page about it.

Versailles was very smelly as reported by Alexandre Dumas from a discussion he held with an old marchioness. People going about behind curtains! And this was the aristocracy. Or followed by servants crawling under paniers, dresses holding this. Called a bourdalou boo-r-da(russian da)-loo.

1819: Victoria is born. Little girls start wearing pantaloons. As they grow up, the mood is in favour of adults wearing pantaloons. But hidden under the petticoat unlike the children who show it. This being said, girls/women not only have menses but like men urinate & else. ⬇️ @fakehistoryhunter.net

in France through Canada. I use the word English as in the 17thC, the 1707 Act of Union is not yet enacted. English beaver hats are likely from American trade>1613, French hats are likely from Canada. If I misunderstood your question feel free to correct me. BTW Spain carried this fashion to 1635.🔚

Rewatching Le Roi Danse / The King Is Dancing. I like very much the Versailles Building Scene In reality, it was a 44-45yo Louis who would enter the palace. Before it is mostly a palace-in-progress. Before there are the Louvre, Saint Germain en Laye, Fontainebleau, Compiegne ... among others.

The last time I went fancy costumed (not cosplay) though... when the whole town pretends to be living in 1450, maybe it is cosplay, I was dressed with this hat and this kind of robe. (Supposedly rich merchant), I loved my belt with hanging aumoniere and dagger. These were the days.

Before I diverge on Chilperic & his 4 m o heir, I offer you this Merovingian fishing implement, diverting the river flow to a side pool (almost 1 metre high) whenever there need be. Through a on/off gate lock. Chelles saw Chilperic assassination as he returned from hunting. Baby would live on⬇️

Unbelievable yet true article. @norsemythology.bsky.social @locktowndog.bsky.social A long time ago our 7yo son had a guinea pig called Cleo. Should we call this warrior Lagertha?

Now when it comes to shoes, Saint Germain en Laye museum has a pair of shoes also Merovingian but I cannot remember for the life of me its timeline. Looking to @archeodgarcia.bsky.social has been the curator of this museum for a good many years, he may remember the pair AND the important timeline?😇

Apologies. Wrong shoe. Saint Germanus but from Moutier-Grandval abbey today in Delemont museum. France. Certified leather. Saint Germanus of Granfelden (hence grandval) circa 612-675 liturgical shoes. Chelles shoes would be about same era as Eligius was a pal of King Dagobert c588-660.

Morangles @morangles.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Yes leather. Here is the Saint Germanus/Germain from Agaune. You are in luck as my 1st introduction to the shoe was a black and white picture.

While there is no debate regarding the Vikings erupting the classic Silk road through a 'northern' door, we must not forget China trade routes were never fully cut off. And that the Viking route was rather a temporary one. Venice-Byzantium-Baghdad-Samarkand axis would serve Carolingian fashionistas.

His children are put under Charlemagne guardianship. Suddenly they disappear. A bit(a lot) like Edward IV sons after Uncle Richard took care of them. The princes in the Tower were never to be seen again while Richard became king. Carloman sons disappeared & Grosse Karl went on killing some more.🔚

Something tells me Bibi is wrong in believing he is the only one holding the files. Trump is now stuck between the Devil, the Deep Blue Sea, the Kraken, Moby Dick and a few Megalodons for good measure. Reckoning is coming to the Ballroom man. And Israel is going to learn beggars can't be choosers.

A lot of treasures which had survived through time were melt to pay for ammunitions as Europe kings united against the French Republic. Anyhow in Aachen, you still can feast on this supposed to be part of his funeral apparatus. Whereas his supposed lucky charm is nested in Reims cathedral. ⬇️

The top of the jewel box known as "Escrain de Charlemagne", aquamarine (apologies not a sapphire) intaglio of Flavia Julia Titi (d. 91 CE) (unengraved side), sapphires& pearls in gold, 9th c. (3rd quarter?), CdM Chab. 2089 ⬇️

@jem-duducu.bsky.social is more than elephant as transport. We all go bananas. So many berries. I certainly was not imagining the fruit as one. This said I knew banana plantain is used like some potato in French Antilles cuisine. Adding Banania a children chocolate&banana drink. Now there's a catch

Then we have Boudica or Boadicea. In the 60s, her bronze statue was gracing our English monthly magazine. I remember (fondly) asking why Queen Victoria was on a Roman chariot! To be a warrior lady riding an elephant was not limited to Tru'ng sisters as about 100 ys later Lady Trieu did same ./.

What better male in distress than France dauphin saved by heroic Jehanne d'Arc. Then we have Queen Hildegard who saved her husband life during an horseback hunt of a wild bull, as in Charlemagne! Yes. Emperors can also be in distress! Just like pretenders as Flora McDonald to Bonnie Prince Charlie

Likewise we have hardy settlers bereft of female companionship in a time where photography did not exist. Imagine portraits crossing the Ocean. Not. So Louis sent girls handed a royal dowry to set sail to Canada. 2/3 of all 2026 French Canadians can trace their lineage to one of the King's wards.
