DC fast chargers were everywhere it was about the only way to make the EV work when we'd go on trips. 120V charging from a normal outlet was just too slow.

It sounds dodgier than it actually was... SJOOW #10 cable to carry 20 amps, the cord was routed so nobody would trip, and no charging when we were asleep or away (hard to charge the car when you're out driving it, heh). I haven't had to do that in a while but back in the early days before
