This is where Walnut starts — black walnut hulls from my mom's yard and the horse trail. They simmer for days and eventually become the soft warm parchment in the fabric. It starts with someone walking a horse trail with a bucket. #moonlitdyeworks #naturaldye #blackwalnut #dyeprocess
A large pot on a stove filled with fresh black walnut hulls in water, ranging from bright green to dark brown, at the start of the dye extraction process.

Linen vs Lugana: Lugana is an evenweave, stitches are consistent and grid-like. Linen isn't, slightly more organic feel. In the dye bath, Lugana always comes out lighter. Sometimes dramatically. Sometimes barely. Neither is better, just different. #handdyedfabric #crossstitch #fabriceducation
