Scary to know but at least you can deal with it and there is whanau awareness and support. Years ago we were able to test for a genetic condition in the family and it was great to know where we stood.

Went out to the garden earlier and the evening perfumes are intense. Pear blossom just finishing, kowhai and other natives giving their all. So many of them have tiny, discrete flowers but smell so fragrant.

Upper Hutt College music teacher Laughton Patrick. He gets a mention in your piece on Dedikation. He encouraged participation in music of all sorts. School shows were original work by pupils - no Gilbert and Sullivan. I saw him on a tv arts show years later coaching a choir of non singers.

People look for workarounds but it’s hard work. If you’re in cities there may be seconds shops, bargain butchers, Asian and Middle Eastern markets or weekend markets. But you have to travel, be on the lookout for a bargain etc. Rurally it’s bartering and hunting etc

Wright Family donates to the H of S which is a charitable trust. One donation was specifically to enable resources to be translated into Māori. Suzy Wiles is an ambassador for the trust. Not sure where the bad is unless it’s fundy science or super high salaries. I guess Wrights do some good. 🤷‍♂️
