New chapter for Wild Card! archiveofourown.org/works/880722... #ShinraFuckers #RenoFF7 #RenoOfTheTurks Featuring a small fire and a small robbery. I am sure there will be no consequences.

Wild Card by InterfaceLeader

Chapter 7: The way of temptation
Summary: Reno takes action.

Each day Reno woke up, and his mental calendar would tick over. Day four, five, six, seven, that was a whole week, eight, nine, ten—

It wasn’t fun. His dreams were vivid and intense. He dreamed of Arnaud, always dancing, while a monster snarled from the shadows, low and threatening. He dreamed of Koa, walking away from him, along the train-tracks, fainter and fainter, until he vanished like a graveyard ghost. He dreamed of Patch-Boy, in a trooper uniform, looking up in sudden fear as the shadow of a mech fell across him.

He was frequently in a bad mood. The craving was a nagging toothache, bone deep, hard to ignore. He’d never been good at downtime, and since he was off the hypers and avoiding the clubs, he suddenly had a lot more downtime to fill. A lot more time for thoughts to buzz about in his brain.

I commissioned @monstressart.bsky.social and look at this amazing art they created for Wild Card!! I'm so happy with it ahhhhhhh (love that expression, he's going to kill a motherfucker) #RenoOfTheTurks #ShinraFuckers

An artwork designed to look like a playing card, featuring Reno from FF7. The top half shows Reno lit in Red, with a 'try me' grin. The bottom half shows Reno lit in blue, with his hood up, and a pensive expression. The text reads 'Wild Card'. A blue cuahl and a red cinnabar moth are in the corners.

The flipped version of the playing card, with the blue-lit pensive Reno on top, and the red-lit aggressive Reno on the bottom.

Chapter 6 of Wild Card is posted. archiveofourown.org/works/880722... #RenoOfTheTurks #ShinraFuckers #TsengOfTheTurks

The sound of his phone woke him. Tseng blinked into the darkness, then turned his head to take in the numbers on the clock.

2.49am.

Irritation leaked through as he answered the call, despite his best efforts. “Would you consider calling during the day?”

“Why, did I disturb your beauty sleep?” There was something off about Reno’s voice. It was slower; the nasal quality more noticeable, the consonants carefully enunciated. The overcompensation of someone trying not to slur.

“You’re drunk.”

A silence, before Reno said, sullenly, “I had a couple drinks.”

Tseng rubbed sleep from his eyes, and sat up. “Are you in a secure location? Nobody can overhear you?”

Chapter 5! No apologies, I was excited about this one. archiveofourown.org/works/880722... #RenoFF7 #ShinraFuckers #RenoOfTheTurks

Reno tapped a cigarette out of the carton and lit it.

Hypers stopped you from dreaming. He’d forgotten how disorientating it felt, waking up from something like that.

Was it messed up, to dream about Arnaud? He was pretty sure it was messed up. It wasn’t just that Arnaud was dead. Arnaud had been his friend. Probably his best friend. You weren’t supposed to want to fuck your friends.

There had been that one weird thing between them, and then Arnaud hadn’t mentioned it again, so Reno hadn’t either. And now Arnaud was dead and everything they’d never talked about had been left to dangle, questions with no answers, like the broken chords of an unfinished song…

Chapter 4 of Wild Card is out! #ShinraFuckers #RenoOfTheTurks #FF7

Wild Card by InterfaceLeader
Chapter 4: Bring on the girls

The Tank looked exactly the way he had left it. So much had happened in the past two days that part of him had expected it to have collapsed into a pile of dust while he’d been gone. But no, there it stood, like he’d never been away, with Doughnut out front on the breeze block, smoking a joint and eating dumplings from a takeout container.

“I thought you went to Sector 7,” Doughnut said, when he saw Reno.

“I thought you fucked off to your Aunt’s for a week.”

“I came back.” For a second Doughnut looked tired, and older than he normally did. “You know the Turks did come by? They spoke to Bear. He’s super mad at you.”

Chapter 3 is out! archiveofourown.org/works/880722... #RenoOfTheTurks #TsengOfTheTurks #ShinraFuckers

Tseng unlocked the hatch in the cell door and looked through.

Reno had been sitting on the mattress, curled into a ball with his arms wrapped around his knees, but he raised his head at the sound. He didn’t look like he had slept—there were dark shadows under his eyes—but he grinned when he saw Tseng. Sharp. Unfriendly.

Good luck, Leota had said. Rather you than me.
