It really is brutal. Here's a nice moment where a couple admire a poster of Olivia Newton John on the wall of an abandoned cafe.

Starting this over lunch as I've heard it's intense and I might not want to watch it before bed. Nightmare City (1980). First violent scenes ten mins in and, well I lost count of the "killings"...

Nilssen plays "Son of Dracula", Count Downe (!), Freddie Francis is Dr Frankenstein and it all looks like it was shot on a long, drunken weekend by accident. Here's Nilssen!

Halfway through s2 of Lou Grant. The boom operator clearly loved the acting as he makes his presence known repeatedly through every episode.

Wondering if this is a common thing. I knew about the Queen Victoria statue in Liverpool where it looks like she has a knob, but I recently found another in Bradford. Do any readers know of other knob-endowed Queen Vic statues? #torchwood #willies

Just finished reading Solace House, the latest novel from my old chum Will Maclean. Beautifully crafted, genuinely unsettling in places. There's a revelation late on that made me gasp and chuckle and marvel at Will's mind.

The new Vue ident is, frankly, disgusting. So much wrongness.
The letters V U and E made out of monstrous misshapen monsters - the V is a corn snack with eyes, covered in cheese. The U is a hotdog with a face at each end. The E is a startled alien.

#SHOCKtober Another Paul Naschy, and a very mid-70s theme Exorcismo (1975). Apparently Naschy had the idea for the film before the glut of exorcism movies, but I'm assuming that's why it got made?

This is a bit like the Rathbone Sherlock films, shifting the Victorian vampire to present day, so the film is rooted in the London blitz and other WWII matters. Refs to a characters escaping a concentration camp. And look at this set!

I've never seen a Tod Slaughter film before and this is the closest he did to a horror - The Face at the Window (1939) begins by telling us there's a "wolf Man" loose in Paris. It also says the name of the film twice in the first minute. Hurrah! #SHOCKtober
