Going through some of the material in the collection I found this package of entomological pins from Western Germany! It's amazing the historic objects, aside from the specimens itself, that can be found in collections. I wonder about the actual year those pins were made...

Dr. Allison Shultz, Associate Curator of NHMLA's bird collection, shares a glimpse into the museum's "type cabinet"—spotlighting the newest addition: the Andean storm-petrel, 𝘖𝘤𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘪. Learn more about this new species of bird and other specimens in the collection: nhm.org/stories
A specimen tagged which identifies the specimen as a holotype, including information about the publication describing the new species, its genus and species, and sex.  Dr. Allison Shultz in the Ornithology Collection. Behind her are rows and rows of compact shelving full of bird specimens. In front of her is the single tiny shelf with all of the Museum's bird type specimens.The holotype for the newly described Andean storm-petrel.
