Had the pleasure of seeing them last November at my favorite venue here in DC, @rhizomedc.bsky.social, and they were amazing to watch and listen to!

NYC band Genre is Death playing at Rhizome DC on November 10, 2025, opening for SEXFACES. Tayler Lee and Ty Varesi play bass & guitar with one standing playing bass and the other writhing, thrashing and wailing on the guitar while supported by a drum machine. The songs are tight and the lyrics are great and they are just fun to watch!

Genre is Death playing at Rhizome in DC. The basist stands tall and still, while the electric guitarist moves closer to her wildly thrashing and moving and belting out a distinct, crisp thrashing electric guitar.

Lorado Taft’s sculpture Eternal Silence at Graceland Cemetery in Chicago. Eternal Silence has been called "eerie", "somber", ”grim-looking", "mysterious", and "haunting". The bronze figure, based on traditional depictions of the Grim Reaper, is set against a black granite base and stands 10 feet (3.0 m) tall upon that base. The black granite provides contrast for the bronze statue, which is heavily oxidized because of its age. The cemetery used to shine the statue to return its true bronze patina but received many complaints and requests to return it to its more dramatic green sheen; the cemetery now keeps the statue in its preferred oxidized state. The hooded figure was influenced by Taft's own "ideas on death and silence".

The Goons got the rooftop so riled up, a fan crowd surfaced through both the inside venue (which was opened and where the bands played) towards the rooftop garden.

On the right of the stage, next to Fiona, is none other than the vocalist from DC’s Clear Channel, Awad. Jacky proclaimed that Clear Channel is one of the best DC Punk Rock bands to exist, and Jacky’s not wrong. Awad is on the far right end of the stage, showing off why every punk in DC knows that Awad possesses the most beautiful booty in all of DC Punk Land. Awad shook that rump at the crowd for a full two minutes and 53 seconds as SEXFACES wailed out the lyrics of Special/Lame, and somehow, amazingly, Fiona was able to avoid making eye contact with the spectacle just to the left of her (proof on Insta).

The Lambrini Girls killed it at the historic Howard Theater on Lambrini Girl Day May 4th, 2025, in the DMV. Samantha Collings from DC’s own Massie slayed it as the touring drummer for the band playing this show in her hometown. Must see show in 2025.

Medusa’s in Chicago, where i met Divine in 1987. And then several other friends who were trans i met and danced with at Medusa’s & Shelter on Friday and Saturday nights from ‘87-‘91, the most notable being JoJo Baby, who passed away in March 2023 - made me realize as a teenager we are all human.

I am old enough to remember when #DaveNavarro wasn’t married. When he kissed Perry Farrell onstage in November 1988 at the Metro in Chicago after Jack Scratch and Live Skull opened for them. Way before he had many tattoos and was converted into a puppet.

Dave Navarro, amazing accomplished guitarist from his original band that made him famous Jane’s Addiction. It would appear that on the weekend of his marriage, that People magazine arranged for a photo shoot that made him appear as though he is a puppet from the Movie Team America. It is hard to describe but his body is super small and ill proportioned to the size of his rather large head in the picture. It is as if he is trying to imitate Prince in a bad way.

Members of Pretty Bitter, Cherub Tree, Flowerbomb and Massie — playing the last song of the night for the DC Abortion Fund fundraiser at Songbyrd. Miri the bassist from Pretty Bitter called all the bands that had played up on stage for the last song. Reese was on the sound board and freaking killed it for all four bands. Jason Hayes, the drummer from Pretty Bitter took off his shirt to show how his muscles work when he drums like a metronome with never before seen flare. Zack Be from Pretty Bitter on keyboard played the entire show without shoes or socks on a metal floor that had to be very cold — he was also doing high kicks like Leslie Hall all night. Everyone on stage is having an amazing time. And there was so much love in the audience and on the stage. Long Live DC Abortion Fund, aka DCAF.

Batteries recharged with #MilitarieGun last night t in Baltimore. Evidently i am still loud at shows because Ian sought me out at the merch table and thanked me for being so vocally supportive during the set and chatted with my son and i for about 10 minutes. Music keeps me alive on this 🌎
