Oh, and in other good news, my contract was renewed. 😁 It's going to get busy starting next week, so I'm taking advantage of the slow time to chill and look at nice art.

I'm a transman who (sometimes, lmao) passes well enough to be the invisible in male spaces and while I can tell you it's not all of them, it is an awfully fucking suspicious number of them. Most of the rest don't care unless it affects their propert—I mean, their GF/mom/daughter/wife/etc.

A German called me a vatnik because I'm learning Russian. This guy supports the AfD. Bruh. 😂 In happier news, puppy turns 1 years old in two days!

Russian is NOT that hard to learn, I say as I struggle to remember simple vocabulary such as "to", "into", and "how".

Once I save up a little more, I wanna commission you to draw Nova. She'd look intense in your style. Maybe I missed this in your T&C, but are you okay drawing firearms as inert props? (IE: not shooting at anything/body.) It's fine if not because it's a common no in T&Cs, but I wanted to ask.

The number of people who have no clue is both astounding and infuriating. I didn't realize how deep it goes until I adopted a special-needs puppy (extreme anxiety) and had to navigate around these morons. And of course anti-vax BS has to be here too because why not? Yuck.

Pen & pencil crayon drawing in my sketchbook of the little white autism creature BUT, it has a long neck, long limbs, and glowing red eyes. The background is a scribble forest at night with a full moon, confined within a blob shape

11. People who are DEEPLY OFFENDED when you try to educate them a bit because you're tired of their poorly-cared-for dog terrorizing your neighborhood. -- I'm not having any more dogs after these two because I'm sick to the teeth of other owners. :(

Astracarta @mondegrun.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
9. People who walk their dogs only occasionally and don't understand why the poor thing is a nightmare on the leash. 10. People who punish warning behaviors such as growling out of their dogs, then are utterly shocked when one day the dog goes straight to the bite.
110
Astracarta @mondegrun.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
7. People who think fear and anxiety can be resolved by forcing the dog into the scary situation(s). 8. People who don't understand why their dog-selective or dog-aggressive dog is unwelcome at the dog park and in dog-friendly storess.
110
Astracarta @mondegrun.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
5. People who attribute morality to their dogs (ex: a dog cannot feel spite—there's a moral element to spite—but they CAN be frustrated and act out to relieve that feeling). 6. People who punish their dogs long after the event and never understand why the dog isn't making the connection. (cont.)

Astracarta @mondegrun.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
3. People who don't understand that not all dogs are dog- and/or people-social and that's fine as long as we're not talking indiscriminate aggression here. 4. People who think they can slap an e-collar on their dog and get a quick fix for problem behavior. (cont.)

Astracarta @mondegrun.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
I attribute the doggy autism thing to, in part, the average person's ignorance and laziness about dogs overall. That's why you have 1. People who don't understand why their collies nip, greyhounds chase, GSDs guard, etc. 2. People complain their companion breed dog is too affectionate. (cont.)

Reason number 34876 I don't let my dogs interact with strange dogs. Or any strange animals, really. They have some canine and feline friends whose owners I know are sane and my pups are very happy with the arrangement.

My puppy has hit adolescence and she has gotten SPICY. And then the wind makes something rattle and she's skittish all over again. Life with a special-needs dog is certainly an experience.

I should use bsky more. Maybe like a journal? Maybe I'll even practice languages here. Okay, for every bad thing, one good thing, and a piece of art posted or reposted. Bad: MIGRAINE. Ugh. Good: free teriyaki chicken (when I'm not too nauseated to eat it)

Astracarta @mondegrun.bsky.social · 17/07/2026
Manchild, you complain that I'm condescending because we're both seniors (you're not) and you're all about qUaLiTy...but your process was shit. Moron. Next time I'll let you take all the proverbial rope and then you can explain it to our manager instead of dealing with it in DMs.
000
Astracarta @mondegrun.bsky.social · 17/07/2026
Today I had a grown-ass man throw a tantrum because his process was shit, I tried to make it a Teachable Moment (patent pending), and he took exception to that. Which wouldn't be too bad until he sent me multiple paragraphs and reported me to the manager like a high schooler at their first job.

In any case, if you won't use your native with someone learning it (at least tell them if they're incomprehensible or not keeping up with the flow of conversation), then you don't deserve to whine about English. Ever. Beta monolingual forever.
000
Astracarta @mondegrun.bsky.social · 14/07/2026
Germans are the absolute WORST for this, btw. NOBODY would speak or write German with me. I joined a German gaming Discord and the moment they found out English is my native, they switched to English. If my teachers had told me my German was super bad, I would have understood.
000
Astracarta @mondegrun.bsky.social · 14/07/2026
I've tried to learn languages. Only Mexicans were willing to deal with my broken Spanish back then. Consider if you use your language with people who speak it imperfectly or if you switch to English instead, because this is a LOT more common than people want to admit.

"Nobody heard him, the dead man, But still he lay moaning: I was much further out than you thought And not waving but drowning. ... Oh, no no no, it was too cold always (Still the dead one lay moaning) I was much too far out all my life And not waving but drowning." — Stevie Smith

I'm starting to wonder if the the impressions I called false and refused to "assent" to (as the Stoics would put it) are actually true and I'm a mule. I am just so fucking lonely, bored, and tired. I can't connect with anyone. Right now, I'm just here for the puppy.

Astracarta @mondegrun.bsky.social · 16/06/2026
It's insane. You work, you take the pills, you go to therapy, things look up for awhile, and then you just...nosedive. I like the Stoic view of things. If there's too much smoke in the house, leave. But leave with reason. Don't be guided by false impressions.

Holy shit, I'm losing my battle to depression. I figured I'd plow through the rest of life like I have the previous 36 years, but every year I become more tired, more desperate, more lonely, and miss my fiance and grandpa more fiercely. It's getting harder and harder to resist the call of the void.

She's going through adolescence, too. The teen months are already hard enough for a puppy. Guess how hard it is for one who alternates between fear reactivity and frustration reactivity non-stop. Guess how hard it is for the human. Dogs are cool but never, EVER again.
000
Astracarta @mondegrun.bsky.social · 02/06/2026
No more puppies, no more dogs. Not ever again. I cannot stand the hours of desensitization, counter-conditioning, environment management. I'm sick of medication, worrying, explaining it to other people, defending puppy's space because people are terminally inconsiderate.

Walks with a behaviorally-needy puppy: "Look, a bike! Good job, here's some cheese!" "Uh-oh, let's turn around!" "What a brave puppy!" "I'm just going to pick you and we'll be on our way!" "Oooo, someone's having a reactive episode!" Christ, you don't realize how emotionally DRAINING it is.

So, uh, I'm mainly a writer and I'm starting to see artists (mostly younger) using genAI for profiles, descriptions, etc. on places like TH. Just...no. You don't want your creative work devalued. Please don't devalue ours. Slop is slop whether it's pretty pictures or word vomit.

Opened up my door this evening since I heard the dogs barking. Neighbors: "SEE? We have to let our dogs out AT NIGHT because of you." Me: "Oh, ok." The looks on their faces as I closed the door.
