Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Opinion of Gunsen? For me, it's over far too quick, and extra troops isn't enough of a counter for going first. 110
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 01/10/2026My #boardgames for September. A much lighter month than usual, mostly due to workload. Not pictured: dozens of games of riichi mahjong on Mahjong Soul. September '26 was when I learned how to play, and wow it's addictive. #bgstats 051
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 21/09/2026#ZeroCompany is a good game, but the bugs just kill me. In the last 24 hours game crashes have forced me to replay two boss fights. I just fought the last boss, got a little bit of denouement, and then it crashed before it could save my progress. 010
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 21/09/2026The Great Zimbabwe was great indeed. A spatial economic game that really sings. You need to position your assets carefully and beware of players who will completely abuse the system if you let them. Every asset pushes victory farther away, and the bid for initiative system is top notch. #boardgames 050
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Lots of #boardgames last month. 👍 - Inferno (as always), Gunsen, new Star Wars expansion, introduced the lunch hour group to Vijayanagara 👎 - Fractal (just a mid 4x) Planet Unknown (just not into tetrominos) 🤷 - Goa, Path of Civilization #bgstats 050
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 23/08/2026Wow did I not enjoy Fractal. Explore: kinda Expand: yes Exploit: not really Exterminate: not much else to do Card-driven combat, but it was very rock paper scissors. #boardgames 061
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Oh yeah, after the game I got called "rebel scum" by the two Empire players both immediately before and after a bathroom break.static.klipy.comHan Solo's Concerned Look and Hand GesturesALT: Han Solo's Concerned Look and Hand Gestures 010
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Today we had 4-player Star Wars deck builder during lunch break with the latest expansion. We had to homebrew a few rules to make it work, but so far it's working. #boardgames 141
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Played Pax Illuminaten (aka Old White Dudes) on #boardgames night. Takes ten minutes to teach and inspires lots of interesting decisions. 031
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 15/08/2026First time trying King Arthur Baking's sourdough milk bread and I think we have a winner. #baking www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/sour... 060
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 01/08/2026My #boardgames for July. Biggest surprise: Rising Sun absolutely slaps. Biggest disappointment: A two-turn game of Dune. Surprisingly good: Goa Eh, it's fine: Soothsayers #bgstats 070
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 27/07/2026Yep. I've had a lot of great games, but I cull them if they're too difficult to get to the table. 111
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 25/07/2026Root! Cats vs Bats vs Knaves vs my beloved Corvids. I jumped to an early lead, the Cats and I fought a bunch and the Knaves capitalized on the scraps. First time playing against the Bats and sweet Jesus I HATE THEM. #boardgames 080
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 23/07/2026Used Pubmeeple to rank my favorite #boardgames, here's how the top 20 came out. 020
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 23/07/2026The expectation that I devote time and resources to being a functioning adult 010
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Bought it, played it dozens of times, but ultimately decided to part ways with it. Everything you say was true, but it lacks teeth and really doesn't do anything with the IP. 010
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 18/07/2026I've been looking forward to my first game of the original Dune for weeks, and tonight we finished it in a disgustingly short 90 minutes. Still, very thematic. Emperor/Harkonnen alliance ✅ Harkonnen kill all the Atreides ✅ Harkonnen win key conflicts via betrayal ✅ Sandworm riding ✅ #boardgames 060

Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 09/07/2026So it's like you can eat within an 8 hour window everyday? 100
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 06/07/2026It sure ain't easy. I definitely factor in pathos when deciding whether to back something. "Do I want this so bad it's worth the interminable wait and agonizing over whether I've just thrown my money away?" 110
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 06/07/2026Yeah I wasn't getting dinged for the superpower penalty much. We had Russia in play, which really forced me and the EU to put invest more into military than we wanted. And I blanked on the whole "oh I need an alliance with a country that will actually allow me to build a base there." 010
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 06/07/2026US has a reputation for being tough to play, or at least win with. I was a distant fourth in my 4p game playing as US, but I'm thinking it has more to do with my mistakes rather than balance issues. 100
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 06/07/2026There aren't many countries I'd want to win the World Cup more than 🇲🇽. 🏴 Is one of them. Bellingham was brilliant for sure, but Anthony Gordon was my man of the match. Great speed, great football IQ. And that penalty that gave Mexico its first goal was 🐮💩. 020
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 05/07/2026After years of looking for a good opportunity, I've finally added this to my collection. #boardgames 150

Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 28/06/2026Introduced my #boardgames crew to Old King's Crown. They're used to euros, so this was definitely a change of pace. First few rounds went by like lightning, but then some competitive spirit kicked in and turned became slower and more deliberate. Very close game, the Book of True Names was clutch. 050
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 28/06/2026Devoured The Traveler in a day. Simple premise #sci-fi, very human story. Someone buy the movie rights. #books 030
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 20/06/2026#boardgames night: World Order. Loved it, even though I placed last. It's a game where mistakes reverberate throughout play. Last round I had three cards in my hand of 6 that allowed me to build a base, but I had no alliances with countries where I could build them. Disaster. It was 🇷🇺, then 🇪🇺, 🇨🇳, 🇺🇸 041
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 19/06/2026Yeah easily the most disappointing match I've seen this World Cup. 000
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 13/06/2026I didn't think I could dislike Landon Donovan more, but that rug on his head has done it. #worldcup 010
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 12/06/2026I agonized over this a bit, but then I realized I make the rules about how I track games, no one else. So it's whatever I feel is best.static.klipy.comRicardo Salusse: Go With The FlowALT: Ricardo Salusse: Go With The Flow 130
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 06/06/2026Right, we'd just need to wrest first regent from him. Wow it's always something. 010
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 06/06/2026OMG I think we had a rules goof then! He didn't control the passage, the Empire did! 100
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 06/06/2026Two regents, one rebel (me). Void Wraith amassed a huge Empire fleet at the end of Act II and used it well in Act III. 100
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 06/06/2026Finally finished our Blighted Reach campaign, and it was kind of a letdown. Void Wraith was impossible to stop from completing his objectives for the insta-win. No fighting in the Twisted Passage meant he could just sit there for easy control. @buriedgiantstudios.bsky.social #boardgames 120
Alex @mollarom.bsky.social · 31/05/2026My #boardgames for May. Mostly bangers, but Faraway didn't land for me and I realized that Santorini (not pictured) is ridiculously quick. #bgstats 190
