I often think about when we first enter into a new fandom. For me, physical objects are normally that gateway. Its like an artifact when I hold it. An example of those things are like the RE2 PC case I have, an out of print manga or comic, a part to a larger figurine you dont have. I miss this.

Theres a lot of "vibe reporting" here of taking Capcom at their word which id love to do, but we currently live in a time where our most trusted game devs are creating placeholder assets using it during dev. I do consider coding to be an art in itself, and it was managed fine beforehand. But eh.

A question that should be asked that would put *my* mind at ease, at least a little bit, is if the use of gen ai is used to create assets in the DEVELOPMENT of the games. Not in the final product. Not "into our games", but in the actual development. Because thats been a huge concern during this era.

“We will not implement assets generated by AI into our games.” Capcom said. “However, we plan to proactively use it as a contributing technology to improve the efficiency and productivity of the game development process. To this end, we are currently exploring ways to implement it in various areas, including graphics, sound and programming."
