While there is a great deal of spiritual classification in Aulterr, mysteries still exist. One example is the non-hostile “Bone Serpent,” which appears before fishermen and is generally just regarded as an ill-omen rather than demon or undead. #worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky #art

Took another run at this, and I think this is good for a first attempt at a painted landscape! It is unknown how the Court of Last Resort determines the cases it hears, but Malus Maleficarum moves with the Court’s will, leading to odd scenes, as below. #worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky #art

I had a dream about the hoverrat, and now it's on the moon. Quick word on moon life: the moon was largely barren until an inland sea on the surface of Aulterr simply brought itself to the moon several epochs ago. How does the hoverrat play into this? 🤷 #worldbuilding #art

One-wheeled hybrid brooms have become more popular in recent years. They have far superior hauling capabilities while removing strain from the levitation enchantment and thus the mage. While the broom still functions without gasoline, it does so poorly. #worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky

Taken to the most extreme, some mages have entire PR teams to ensure you don't just know what spell they'll cast, but you already have an image of who's casting it. This makes a mage predictable, but to some the cost is worth it. #worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky #art

The Death Cultists can also negotiate on your behalf to improve your lot in the afterlife. One example of this is the Hearteater, tasked with devouring the hearts of 100 dragons to avoid its fated damnation. It is the head of the Imperial Revenue Service. #worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky #art
Hearteater, a reptile-headed mage with at least three arms, holding an orb.

The text reads: "Once a mortal mage, the Hearteater was on the path of becoming a dragon, and thus damnation. So, it struck a deal with Death to avoid this horrid fate."

The Hearteater is inspired by the Yeogno, a Korean monster who must devour 100 "yangban," essentially aristocrats, to ascend to heaven.

Who are the Death Cultists? Very few are actual devotees of the Death God. Most just wanted steady employment, and others are simply working for a more privileged afterlife. In any case, they are often more dedicated to the upkeep of abbeys than worship. #worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky #art

The key feature of a Death Cult abbey is Death's Gate, invoking the Gates of the Hells. Through these gates is the abbey's forum, where beer and bread is often sold. It is also through these gates that the dead issue forth during the Night Parade. #worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #oc #ocsky #art
Death's Gate, the entryway to an abbey of the Death Cult. The text reads: "Typically somewhat sparse in its decoration, the gates are generally marked with either bell or cyclops iconography."

The Abbey at Tertius, a large Augustian city in the south of Aird. The text reads: "A dense, urban abbey is focused on the forum, where goods are sold; the pit, where bodies are processed; and the gate itself."

The layout of the abbey is labeled, from top left to bottom right, as "forum, pit, quarters, bank, kitchen (with the arrow), cloister, library, storage, and gardens." Its layout is inspired by Westminster Abbey.

I'm back! My only drawing from when I was away: a soft-pun based on my cousin's description of frogs in Thailand. As low-concept as it gets. The bull frog has tenderloins which can be prepared very similarly to pork. #worldbuilding #dnd #ttrpg #art #oc #ocsky
A horned frog. The text reads:

Bull Frog

As the name suggests, the bull frog is something between a bull and a frog. This gives it a unique flavor.

Be warned: this frog can weigh 50kg and has the leg strength to propel that mass at shocking speeds.

Oddly, mixing frog with bull gives a flavor remarkably similar to pork.

When the bull frog croaks, it sound like a "moo" but low and loud enough to crack stone.
