"Crassness of speaking of women's chests aside... "I believe someone tried to court me by calling me a 'flat-chested queen'. "...That...IS a compliment. Correct?"

"Isn't 'slop' simply what pigs consume on the farms? "...Ugh, now i'm reminded of Gluttony."

[The smile on Temperance's face briefly shows just a few of her myriad dagger teeth.] [A flick of the wrist and her sword awakens, the water contained within now forming the *real* blade of her sword, intensely sharp...And wider than the Knight might've first assumed.]

000

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

[Chk...!] "...?" [Her sword is deftly caught between those fingers, raising her eyebrow. She pushes the blade to attempt to follow through, clearly impressed by the Knight's physical strength.] [But it might realize something odd...The gray metal of her sword. It's...Dull?]

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

[It's the burst into smaller shards that catches her, already having been shifting to rush for another strike. She improvises on the spot but a couple bullets still graze her, leaving scratches in their wake.] "How creative!" [Her voice rings out in praise as she goes for another simple slash.]

000

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

[The finger gun confuses her just a moment, a gesture Temp hasn't seen before. Though, that wonderment is pushed out of her mind as the stars come forth.] [Her body steps and weaves through the large projectiles gracefully, certainly no issue to track something so obvious...]

100

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

[Once her opponent is near again, her eyes are shut as she flows again from movement to attack, spinning on her foot for a wide slash...Which she hops backwards at the end of.] [Her eyes open, tilting her head at the Knight as she giggles, amused.] [It seems the both of them like to play...]

000

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

[She had anticipated the first strike, most certainly don't humor THAT opening step. So does she deftly flip back, low to the ground until she returns to her feet once the tear closes.] [She's still smiling, stoic and confident, as she flows from her dodge to rushing forward to catch up!]

100

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

[Then Temperance settles into her fighting stance, her weapon gripped merely one-handed. She looks more like she is about to perform than fight.] [She extends her empty hand, as if offering it.] "Shall we dance?"

000

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

"...Congratulations, fair Knight. You rank amongst the most difficult to get a read on! "How vile is my vast curiosity now! I cannot help myself..." [She pulls out her blade, a greatsword of some kind, with liquid contained within the guard and hollow fuller.] "I challenge you to a duel."

"Ahahahahah! Oh you are *adorable*, Knight! "While I am not one to brag, I think you may be severely underestimating me for your second point. I believe *you* wouldn't be able to hurt *me*." [She stops pacing, undeterred from the mockery.] "And so we reach a standstill, don't we?"

"And I get the distinct feeling that you may be looking for it here. "To clarify! Just because I don't *like* violence, it does not mean I am incapable of it." [She leans, letting shadows intensify the glow of her eyes.] "Unfortunately, I have still yet to find a cure for fools other than death."

"Quite a title you have! I have several myself...However, you may call me Temperance. Temp, if you prefer." [Despite the growing hostilities, she has a light, perhaps bemused smile on her face. She begins to pace, idly starting to circle the Knight.] "Clearly! I can sense the insatiable desire...

Electricity by itself still can't *kill* her, but a direct bolt can still send her to the ground easily.

000

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

She isn't defenseless, and she has experience in needing to work in clever ways without her element, but she would be at a disadvantage. But last, and most devastating, is her weakness to electricity. An element that was rare in her time, but is now, unfortunately, much more common.

110

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Thus, it is possible to "starve" her to weaken her. She also becomes ill from opulent, overindulgent foods and unhealthy sweets, even if she wishes she could enjoy them sometimes. Second, as you may have gathered, depriving her of water to work with eliminates a majority of her combat ability.

100

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

For her power though, she has her weaknesses. One is that, being opposed to Gluttony, her Virtue concerns the human need to consume, be it food, drink, or other such things. This means that like Gluttony, and unlike all other Traits, she *must* eat every day at the same rate as a normal human.

100

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

As a note about her singing, it's utterly beautiful, some would even call it entrancing! However, despite the mermaid's association with the creatures known as sirens, her singing has no actual entrancing effects. Don't get it confused.

100

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

The more contaminated the water, the harder a time she has commanding it, requiring more concentration for more complex uses. As for non-water based liquids, she has no control over them whatsoever. Third, her self-liquidation has limits and exhausts her to use repeatedly.

100

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

It's rather easier to say everything she can't do. For one, and most importantly, she can't form water from utterly nothing. It must exist nearby to be usable, even if she must condense the humidity in the air. Second, she has less control over "impure" liquids, though seawater is always best.

100

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Her affinity to water is most complex, having a control over hydromancy and hydrokinesis to the point of any water being an extension of her whenever available, only needing a thought to be controlled. She can even briefly turn herself into liquid to evade attack or make an escape.

100

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Her personal weapon, the Ewer's Tide, is a greatsword, simple in design, but able to be "loaded" with water to form the actual blade, growing larger with more water if she wills it. However, it will crush her under it's weight if she loads too much for any longer than a brief moment.

100

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Her mermaid tail, resembling an eel's, constantly secretes a thin film of mild poison on the outside. Stinging and soon numbing on first touch but paralytic and potentially lethal from prolonged contact. Other parts of her body, including inside of her tail, are completely safe.

100

Temperance @moderationadrift.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Her unique strengths include the ability to breathe underwater, along with unparalleled speed in swimming, mastery with a blade, and an affinity to the element of water. She is also a greatly skilled songstress and dancer, even knowing how to play some instruments, though she prefers singing most.

Known as the "Peaceseeker", "The First Mermaid", and "Herald of the Great Flood" in her world, Temperance...*Was* a notable figure, with a dream of bringing about peace in the world. Now though, she's an unknown woman in an unknown place and time. She has experience in staying subtle, at least.
