Quite a bit closer to home, I've also taken up #birdwatching I am so far terrible at identifying them, but maybe if they'd sit still for a photo I could get better.

Meanwhile, clouds rolled in last night and squelched my plan to image the Horsehead nebula, so here's an image from a few nights ago with which I am dissatisfied. #astrophotography

We live on a winding, sloped road a bit out of the way. A year ago, 8 inches of snow effectively cut our neighborhood off for a week. The 4 solid inches of lingering ice from refreeze had a lot to do with it.

A view of our street one year ago today. You can't actually see it because there's 8 inches of snow. One the of the gentler slopes descends away from the camera. Winter-bare trees give the only indication of where the edge lies.

I had a break yesterday and wandered a bit in the farmer's market and picked up some weird art.

I took a picture of Jupiter while we were hiding in the mountains. Incredibly dark sky where we were, conducive to #astrophotography.

I got a couple decent images last night during a disappointing football game. #astrophotography

M27, the Dumbbell Nebula. Hazy blue cloud with reddish tinted edges in the shape of parentheses. The overall shape reminds me more of a double bladed axe head than a dumbbell.
