I’m on the Falcon and Millennium Empire arc of BERSERK now that I have a few more deluxe editions. Miura’s art is beautifully brutal as usual.

Mike McFarland gave so much to the anime fandom. Anyone who watched any anime in English experienced his handiwork. This scene from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, a dub he directed and voiced the character Havoc in, will get me choked up on rewatches now. We’ll see you at the top, Mike. 💔

And our first anime review of the day has @mmjdanny.bsky.social getting a bit more on track with ye olde Bleach.

Getting back on the Bleach train has taken time but I’m glad to finally be back! I almost wish I was still behind because I know the ending is coming up. 😭 Anyway enjoy lol

Reminiscing about this tweet from Vic Mignogna’s lawyer right after the courts threw out most of the case lol.

And if I said she is actually so hot?

I watched the first 8 episodes of Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You and I am in love! I was worried about it being pro-smoking propaganda as a non-smoker myself. It kind of still is but it’s a lot more tender and positive than I expected and the Japanese voice work is fantastic.

I live! Finally BLEACH reviews/analyses are back for one final cour! Expect these to be somewhat sporadic as I get caught up, but for now it’s good to be back. Enjoy! Spoiler: I’m a bit horny on main for Yoruichi. Let me have it for an episode.

My Adventures With Superman is over (hopefully just for now) but I can’t get my head around so many people on Twitter being annoyed that Lois was the one to propose. It made perfect narrative sense to anyone who watched the season! It was a great way to end the season, and it was adorable!

Lois gets on one knee and proposes to Clark.

This is just straight up 2 hours of the best action you’ve ever seen. My god.

I know Steins;Gate Day passed but in honor I wanted to show off a prized piece in my collection; my Blu-ray/DVD set signed by Trina Nishimura, the dub voice for Makise Kurisu! She was so sweet and imo the dub for Steins;Gate is one of the best out there. Shame the dub was never added to Crunchyroll.

Second and final B&N Criterion haul finally arrived!

Dan Mansfield @mmjdanny.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

I don’t know what happens in the new episode except Yoruichi pulls out her God of Thunder form and it’s going to take every bone in my body not to just be horny on main the whole review.

Yes, I know BLEACH Thousand Year Blood War is back. Reviews are coming! I need to sort some stuff out but hopefully I can get an episode 41 review out before the end of the week. Sorry about the delay!

KISS KISS FALL IN LOVE! Was really glad to rewatch OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB after so many years and do a nice little retrospective on it! I talk about how good it looks, its progressive values, whether or not it needs a reboot, The Elephant in the Room, and more! I hope you like it!

Every so often someone likes my tweet from years ago celebrating a few years since Vig Mignogna lost work and I take some solace in knowing he’s one of the few people to be perma-canceled. At this point it’s safe to say he’s probably relegated to Anime Matsuri forever.

Update: looks like it’s available on Amazon and RACS now. Guess they decided this particular franchise was too lucrative to lock behind their upcoming paywall lol. Looks like it’s not a Crunchyroll exclusive anymore! a.co/d/07Sd6KdQ

The Apothecary Diaries steelbook isn’t listed on the store anymore lmaooo The original product page link is still up and the product page is still there but you can’t add it to your cart. Oh well more money to MediaOCD I guess.

011

Dan Mansfield @mmjdanny.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

5 releases. 2 are steelbook rereleases and 2 are sequels. Just one new title. It’s abysmal how these companies (Sony is not alone) are sitting on huge libraries of shows and movies and expect us to accept 2-5 titles a month. Pathetic how we are STILL missing stuff like Apothecary S2, Zenshu etc.

Oh hey. Nice this piece of mine is getting bumped. I had fun with it. I recently saw that Crunchyroll removed Death Parade shortly after this was published! Its 10th anniversary and it’s gone. Gotta love it! And the Blu-ray is out of print! They just did the same thing during Black Lagoon’s 20th.

Been lamenting lately how the anime industry used to feel run by fans for fans and now it feels run by corporations for normies (or investors if you’re feeling a bit more cynical).

I just got this email from Crunchyroll. What absolute horseshit. They are now paywalling access to their store behind the highest subscription tiers. Yes, I’d LOVE to pay more money just to have the privilege to shop for Solo Leveling t-shirts and JJK figures. Go fuck yourself Sony. I miss Rightstuf

Amazing Sentai got $170 out of me with their summer sale and Aniplex will get precisely nothing because they thought it smart to take $10 off of 10 items. Sure, Aniplex. Insist on charging $135 for a two film set that doesn’t even have a slipcover while I consider giving more money to Sentai.

New season of Tanya the Evil is airing and Medium reminded me of the essay I wrote about it back in 2019. I remember being super proud of it because this was one of the first major pieces of work I did on an anime. I just opened up my laptop and started writing. 7 years gone by in a flash.

Saga of Tanya the Evil is Deliciously Immoral

How do you entertain a leftist with a story where the protagonist is a fascist, and succeeds? You create Saga of Tanya the Evil.

And that’s a wrap on the OG! 120%! Actually the first time I did that on either version. Some stuff I had to look up but overall a breezy experience. Still fun and Toys For Bob made it look good! Took about 7 hours. Looking forward to Ripto’s Rage next! It’s my favorite of the three.

If Sony wants to stop using disks, why buy a Playstation? Exclusives? Those aren't going to sell a PC. The name? That may work for a little while, but long term if the answer to "What is a Playstation" is "It's a kind of PC", then why not buy/build a PC? This is penny pinching at fans' expense.

Absolutely 0 reason to get the next playstation. Maybe their justification about consumer trends has truth to it but it smells like bullshit. Every company is frothing at the mouth to kill off physical ownership. The bar for these companies is on the ground and they start digging.

I’ve forgotten just how short the levels are in the Spyro games. After two hours I’ve already reached 38% in the first game and have maxed out the first two home worlds without much trouble.
