1) Antwerpse jongerentaal kent twee types. Hier zijn een paar typerende kenmerken: Type A: /r/ > [ʀ] /aː/ > [aː] Gebruik van verkorte voornaamwoorden (ge, ze, me) Type B: /r/ > [r] /aː/ > [ɑː] Geen gebruik van verkorte voornaamwoorden (gij, zij, mij)

Tarifit word of the day: Sidi-Rebbi [sɪ.ðɛʌb.bɪ] - "God, the Lord" From Moroccan Arabic سيدي ربي (sidi ṛəbbi, lit. "Sir Lord"), but it is way more commonly used in Tarifit to the point I consider it the default word for God.

- [β̞i̞ː be̞nt͡ʃ‿çæː]

When I started fieldwork, several first-language speakers of Korandje told me they were glad their kids couldn't speak it. Teachers had told them raising their kids in (dialectal) Arabic was the key to letting them succeed in school, and they believed the results bore this out.

An advantage of having almost 2,000 Tarifit entries on Wiktionary is that it allows for data to be analyzed like this. The number of borrowed of vocabulary is a bit higher (53.9) compared to previous estimates, but this may be due to an implicit bias in this corpus.

It is with great sadness that we learned that Harry Stroomer, em. prof. of Afroasiatic linguistics at Leiden University has passed away. Harry was the founder of Amazigh studies in Leiden and the Doktorvater of a whole group of scholars in Amazigh studies (me included). May his soul rest in peace.

From my Twitter archive, where I had posted about Mmuy/Mou. Aktwit4 said that Ayt Sedrate (b/w Boumalne & Msemrir, NE of Skoura) also say /v/ for /b/: lǝvṛiq < lǝbṛiq lvǝrrad < lbǝrrad ṭṭavla < ṭṭabla avrid < abrid Seems, there is a /v/ trail from Sedrate to Mouy !

Sometimes, stress can contrast in words in Tarfiit: seǧment xaf-i /səd͡ʒˈd͡ʒmənt/ = "they (f.) greeted me" /ˈsəd͡ʒ.d͡ʒmənt/ = "greet (f. pl.) me!" waxxa /waχˈχa/ = "even" /ˈwaχ.χa/ = "okay"
