Voyagers goodreads.com/book/show/2416… 2 out of 5. Well written, but an exercise in tedium. Somehow made an alien invasion boring.

#CurrentlyReading Ghost Town by Tom Perrotta. Not my usual horror, but an Americana coming of age story of a boy in 1970s New Jersey following the death of his mom. So far, I enjoy it.

T Kingfisher spins a slow burn story about an illustrator and turns into a story of morals, love, revenge. Body horror, gross bugs that will make your skin crawl. And an ending that leaves our protagonist not completely in a better place. 4 ⭐️ out of 5. #HorrorBooks #Horror #GothicHorror

#SlaughterhouswFive left me disappointed. Non chronological stuff isn't really my thing, but this felt like someone got high and wrote a stream of thought. I was told Vonnegut changes your life, but I'm already aware of the issues the author is highlighting. Maybe I read this when I was too old.

Tubi is 0-2 the last week or so with Road Kill and Hive. Hive at least feels like a movie with good ideas and simply lacks execution. Road Kill is a mess, from an AI opening, audio not synced, cuts every 3 seconds. It is TikTok brain movie. Cmon Tubi, you can do better.

2 out of 5. All the ingredients for a good noir are here, the execution is not. Massive logic leaps, a boring cop character and a by the numbers antagonist. Git was a good character, but disappears for a stretch and the novel suffers. The last act is pretty good.

I try not to give 1⭐️ reviews. But this was Awful. Paced like a bad soap opera, very little of substance actually happens. Things are set up and nothing is done with them. Horror is no where to be found, and the ho hum reaction of characters to supernatural events takes away any punch.

Finished #LostWorld by Crichton. Solid 3 out of 5. Not as good as Jurassic Park. It suffers from two long winded, cold characters in Malcolm and Levine. But the story shines with Harding and Thorne. Harding is a strong female character, and vast improvement over Sattler.

Another solid read from James Markert with "All Things Bright and Strange." Really captures small town southern life, and blends it with a grounded supernatural element. Also a nice little tie in to Angel's Share. Give it a read to atart your new year.

Been a pretty good year for movies. Sinners unquestioned best movie of the year for me. Looking forward to 2026 and catching up on some late 25s.

Not one of Clive's best. "Mister B. Good is essentially writes a book to troll the reader. The basic story is an adventure of a demon, tying it to an historical event to show organized religion is a scam, where true good needs true evil.... #BookSky #HorrorBooks #Horror

Sadly The Wasp Trap didn't do it for me. Its writing is fine, but the characters leave a lot to be desired. The twists don't hit bc you dont care about the characters, and by the final reveal, you just want the story to be done.

I really enjoyed @gradyhendrix.bsky.social book #MyBestFriendsExorcism. Humorous but the horror hits hard. Looking forward to watching the movie. Seek this one out.

Grady Hendrix tones down his humor and ups his visceral horror in a metalploitation novel #WeSoldOurSouls. It meanders a bit in the middle, and the end may be unsatisfying to some. Put on a metal instrumental Playlist, and have fun. A solid 3 out of 5 book.

My 2nd book read from James Markert. While I still prefer Nightmare Man, this was a solid story about a father and son mending a relationship after s tragedy, aided by a passion for making bourbon. Def recommend.

Overall, a good #31DaysOfHalloween. 12 were truly great movies. 10 were good to ok while 9 were just bad to unwatchable. Top 4 were Bring Her Back, ReAnimator, Weapons and Talk To Me. Pleasantly surprised by Companion, Match, Takeout and Return of the Vampire.

First time reading Grady Hendrix and I thoroughly enjoyed this. He has a deft touch portraying Southern family dynamics around a funeral. The supernatural element is done well, and the climax goes nuts. All about loss, dealing with grief and moving on. ##BookSky #Horror #HorrorBook

#Batman "Moon of the Wolf" is one of those cool episodes where they embraced the horror side of the Animated Series, and it still holds up today. The transformation animation, the story, the ending, is all real good.

Just finished #TheNightmareMan by JH Markert. 1st book by him I've read, and loved it. Dark, mysterious. I really ID'd with Ben Bookman. The mystery, the family dynamics and drama, and the horror in this builds to a great climax. #BookSky #HorrorBooks Seek this out. I....

#StrangeNewWorlds season 3 was way better than s2. "New Life and New Civilizations" felt like an end. While it did lean a little too into fantasy, the emotional heart was solid. The next 2 seasons feel set up. @StarTrekOnPPlus

Terrarium might be my favorite episode of Strange New Worlds. Melissa Navia really shines in this one. And its message is an uplifting one.

Lake @mlmorris.bsky.social · 12/09/2025

Saw StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds "Four and a Half Vulcans." A pure comedy episode that mostly lands. Really leans into how badly Spock is treated by full blooded Vulcans. The purist will probably hate this, but i just don't care what the purists think.

Lake @mlmorris.bsky.social · 29/08/2025

"What is Starfleet" is another experimental episode from #StrangeNewWorlds, done in a documentary style. While its conflict of the week isnt new, it asks, is Starfleet actually bad? The answer may be unsatisfyibg to some, but I found this episode hopeful abd aspirational.

Lake @mlmorris.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

I dug the new episode of #StrangeNewWorlds. Part horror movie, part escape room. Also advances the Batel sub plot, while also potentially setting up a bigger threat in coming episodes. Also, Dr. M'Benga remains my favorite character and has another great episode. @startrek.bsky.social

Star Trek #StrangeNewWorlds "A Space Adventure Hour" nails its zany comedy, and works as a loveletter to TOS. Also borrows from TNG in making a holodeck episode.

@startrek.bsky.social #StrangeNewWorlds "Shuttle to Kenfori" jumps to one of my fav episodes of the series. Dr. Mubenga has slowly become my fav character and this episode was solid. And it had zombies while also furthering Ortega's interesting arc.

#AndorSeason2 was so good. Pacing was still that slow burn, but ep 6-9 are the must see. Being critical, the last 3 ep act more as a prologue to #RogueOne , and that final shot makes that movie and Cassian's fate more heart breaking.

Episode 3 of #WinOrLose is great. Rochelle is indicative of pricing out kids sports, and we can all agree when has a horrible mom. Give this a watch, @Pixar is really trying something interesting in this series. 1st 2 episodes were good, but 3 stands out.

#Yourfriendlyneighbourhoodspiderman is so much fun. The art style, voice acting and story are solid. Is doing it's own thing, with its own little spin on the Spider Man mythos. Also falls into multiverse, but this is multiverse done right.

The Spider Man v Daredevil fight in #YourFriendlyNeighborhoodSpiderMan is so good and why animation still has a place in entertainment. Also a good episode mixing legit funny moments with the heartbreak of seeing Lonnie descend into a bad place.
