Long time, no update. This is what I've been up to: Building a tall bike out of junk bicycles I've found on the streets.

This has been a quixotic quest for no reason other than to see if i could do it, but I did do it: I've created a ceramic circuit board with copper traces that I can solder components to. Here's a little astable multivibrator circuit running on stoneware.

Did you know you can use a Dymo labeler to make a headlight symbol if you're willing to take the labeler partially apart and emboss by hand?

And here it is done! This is a wild-clay glaze and wild clay stoneware. This bowl, like my recently finished mug, is 100 percent made of materials I gathered myself, without a single store-bought or studio-supplied ingredient. I loooove how this glaze looks.

Time for some progress shots. Here's the bowl as bisque ware, before firing.

I threw this pot from 15 pounds of clay. That's a new personal record for me (the previous record was 9, yesterday). Throwing this much clay is a lot of effort! That's a big mass of clay you have to center and force into shape. I was sweating.

This mug is made entirely from materials I gathered myself. There isn't a single store-bought or company-supplied ingredient in the clay or glaze. I finally did it!

Reconfigured little DIY ebike. I just need to 3D print a couple of bits, but it works the way it is, and now I have so much more cargo space.

After being tagged numerous times in posts about a feminist hacker collective making clay PCBs, I had a sudden realization two nights ago that I might be able to make conductive, solderable pottery glaze, so I tried it. It worked. Today. I made some prototype ceramic PCBs with a 3D printed stamp

Quick afternoon glazing session in the studio. I put my 100 percent wild-gathered (scavenged) glaze on this wild-clay mug, and did some glazing with studio glazes on this geometric luminary assignment.

Pooping dreams
Dreamt the tank fell off my toilet while I was getting ready in the morning, but I didn't feel like dealing with it right then.

Much later in the day, I had to go poop, and I realized I had never fixed the tank, so I got down there to take a look.

The two bolts that held the tank on had sheared off, but they didn't look like the usual kind of toilet tank bolts. They were 19 inches long and had 9-19/64ths threads.

i had no idea where I was going to find bolts like that, but I knew the landlord would be no help, so I started undoing them to take them to the hardware store with me when I woke up.

This post is already extremely replied to, but I love that hatchet, so why not? Here's the ebike I built from a trashed folding bike, a hub motor I found in the river, and a battery pack from an abandoned e-scooter.

I threw this wild clay bowl yesterday, and trimmed it today. Off to the bisque kiln it goes! See you when you're orangey-red, little bowl

Coordinating pants and dress with earrings and necklace and eye makeup. It's a red-green day for me. I pity colorblind people for not being able to see how good i look today.

On my bike ride tonight I had to stop suddenly and circle back after spotting this beautiful dragon arum flowering in the shadows of some large trees in a forgotten patch of dirt in an industrial area. I've never seen one before. Amazing plant (look it up). I have no idea how it got there.

If you keep your eyes open, really open to the world around you, instead of just passing through it looking straight ahead, you start to notice all kinds of things other people are overlooking. Like, for example, this spot where a shirtless handyman was unexpectedly raptured on the side of the road

Yesterday I showed my second attempt at a mug made of wild clay. Today, I show my first. I got this back from firing today. It's made of wild clay and glazed with wild-clay glaze. Two years of experimenting, trial and error, research, road trips, and trespassing has led up to this moment.

This mug is glazed with a glaze made entirely from ingredients i gathered myself. This my first 100% scavenged glaze. No store-bought ingredients here. This is the third wood-ash glaze I've made, and the first that exhibits the trademark runny effect that these glazes are known for. Very cool.

I had what seems to me like a brilliant idea, and took my spare bike (one of my spare bikes) to the office today and left it there as my office bike. Now I'll never be at work without a bike, and I have one less bike cluttering up my house.

My newest ceramics piece. The simple geometric shape is something I'm comfortable with. The multilayered calico finish was a stretch for me, but I'm happy I tried something different.

Another wild clay ceramic piece of mine back from firing. This was a 50:50 mixture of clay from the Salton Sea and from Lake Elsinore. The glaze is from our studio.
