I didn't think I'd be so excited for Secrets of Strixhaven but golly I can't wait to play more of this set. This is the kinda set that makes me want to recommend MTG to everyone... and then I remember the next set is going to be Marvel Superheroes.

Played not one but TWO!! #MTG Strixhaven pre-releases. Ended up 2W 1L with Golgari and 2W 0L 1D with Izzet-but-playing-Quandrix. MVP of both decks presented, turns out Cascade is broken in Izzet Big Spells! Such a fantastic Limited set tbh, might show up for a third pre-release tomorrow 🤭

i think magic could benefit from some crunchier, novel-sized worldbuilding again. i don't think rapid-fire visits to all these hat-worlds create any long lasting impressions. there's no mystique in transactional ephemera. where's the slow burn?

6 people at my LGS for TMNT prerelease (I didn't go - I almost never go to prereleases). And you know what? I'm not sorry. I hope that UB fails and I'm not sorry to say that 🤷🏼‍♂️ I just feel bad for the LGSs themselves, since they're losing money from this.

Lorwyn Eclipsed pre-release went great!! I went 3-0 player a UWr deck with some merfolk and elementals (I did not play Oko lol) pretty dope format tbh, Magic the Gathering is such a cool game.

I really dislike when "a set sold extremely well" is taken as equivalent to "most Magic players liked that set". When it comes to sets like Final Fantasy, we must consider how much of the sold product was bought from people that had no intention of using it to play the game.

btw it's really bad that Starting Town is $34 and Vivi is $50 when they come from the most opened set of all time. The fact that there's a $600 standard deck is really messed up In-universe sets don't have enough time to be opened enough to satisfy demand, and UB sets get the collector tax
