The profile photo is a 1943 Victory nickel. Silver was critical to the war effort. It symbolizes the determination Canadians have to be the victors in the war declared on us by the USA.

The USA - living under mentally deranged despot creating an existential threat to the nation: “tsk, tsk, tsk, well, I didn’t vote for him” France - school students, confronted with deteriorating school conditions (below). Q: which is the home of the brave?

Over the years, the premiers of Alberta have been many things (even, in one case, a classmate). Never before, however, has one been a pathetic dissembling coward of the likes of Danielle Smith.

The fact that #Trump is overtly supporting #Putin should terrify Americans... and the rest of the free world.

How so Justice Alito? So the ruling forced people to marry anyone they didn’t want to? No, it just meant others couldn’t prevent people who wanted to from getting married. That’s not a liberty issue. You’d have flunked out of the law school I went to of thats the depth of your analysis.

This “genius” passed through SK for a few months on the family farm. But he thinks the province should separate. His Grandfather was a political failure and he has fallen near the tree

Only the Milk River flows south to the Missouri. It does not cross the provincial border. Every other Alberta river empties into the Arctic Ocean through the NWT, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Asshats won’t limit Alberta’s draw. They’ll just steal from everybody else.

CityTV is not OTA in Saskatchewan. The result - you have to pay to watch hockey. This year‘s moves by Rogers have compounded the issue dramatically, but it’s a tune many people have been hearing for years.

Kim Anderson @mkimanderson.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
The explanation was that viewers could get CBC over cable, satellite, or Internet, anyway. Of course, once you’re outside the city, the first one disappears. The third never existed, because Intenetservice outside cities largely. doesn’t exist in a way that supports TV streaming. Satellite costs $.

CBC’s position was that it would put up one digital transmitter per province, and shut down the others. Of course, as time went on that rule only applied to some provinces and not others. Nevertheless, CBC shut down OTA television in Saskatoon and surrounding district a mire than a decade ago.

Kim Anderson @mkimanderson.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
When conversion to digital TV occurred, the CRTC required broadcasters serving urban areas over a certain population to convert to digital TV. After a phase in., The old analogue transmitters were required to be shut down. CTV and Global complied. CBC did not.

And as much as I despise Rogers, it’s not their fault either. I live 5 miles east Saskatoon, and I’ve had to pay to watch hockey for over a decade. Even though I only live less than a mile from a CBC TV transmitter. Why is that? It arises from a decision made by CBC.

HOCKEY AND PAYWALLS. I don’t disagree with a lot of the commentary, raising questions about putting hockey coverage behind paywalls. However, many of you won’t know that substantial numbers of us have had to pay to watch hockey for years. This isn’t the NHL’s fault.

Don’t let them. Keep a list so they can be rightly shamed and sidelined. Add to this list. The shamed: Pierre Poilievre, Jamil Jivani, Kevin O’Leary, and this week Peter McKay and Sylvain Charlebois.

When Canada come out the other side of the Trumpian disaster, strong and self confident, the defeatists, the collaborationists and the quislings will all profess how they fought for Canada, much like how by 1946, everyone in France had been in the Resistance.

I have no particular expertise but historically Port Nelson was abandoned part way into construction, for Churchill, because of insurmountable difficulties. Take a look at a map which show the railway line, partially constructed at the time, veering north. Am I missing something?

Gee. I held a conservative membership until Poilievre got elected leader. I left because he’s an idiot.

Kim Anderson @mkimanderson.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Yes which is exactly what you did. I said you might be right about Trudeau but that had nothing to do with the competency of Poilievre and Scheer. You responded with what about Joly and O’Regan. Sorry friend. I didn’t do the what about. You did. If the label hypocrite describes you then wear it.

Kim Anderson @mkimanderson.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
As in what about Joly, what about O’Regan, what about Trudeau? Exactly. I agree with you.

Kim Anderson @mkimanderson.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
No, you’re just ducking the point I made. I might disagree with you, but it’s irrelevant. You can’t justify electing Pierre on the basis that other people are as stupid as he is. Your point is as long as I can call somebody on the other side stupid I get to elect an idiot?

Kim Anderson @mkimanderson.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Ok let’s accept that for argument’s sake. That becomes a reason to elect two more incompetents?

Pierre #Poilievre seems to have a comprehension problem as he blathers on about never being the 28th state of the EU. That was never advocated ... but his little mind tries to twist everything into a negative.

The party’s lagging in the polls. The leader’s numbers are in the basement but nobody’s got the guts to challenge him so your plan is to lose the next election. No it’s not the GOP. Its the Conservative Party of Canada

So while we are making Canadian government, more efficient, I got some suggestions. A month ago, my parents received a labour market study to fill out. They were told it was mandatory. I filled it out online and sent it in. They are 99 and 98 respectively, and retired 36 years ago.

Yet another one of the conservatives who has deluded themselves into thinking it’s all Canada’s fault. They’d rather surrender to Trump than see anybody other than a far right Conservative succeed in this country.
