As with I Saw the TV Glow, our main character is torn between the life she thinks she's supposed to lead, and the one she can't quite bring herself to admit she really wants. But where telling a trans coming out story was inherently heavier and more vulnerable, this is about what happens after coming out, which isn't a story that gets told nearly as often. If coming out is an often painful and frightening experience, this is about the joy, and pleasure, waiting on the other side. As a result, it feels lighter than TV Glow, more romantic, and funnier. It's not every movie that can deal sincerely with overcoming sexual trauma that can also support a scene where a stoner's head gets cut off, and their severed head exhales bong smoke.

Hair’s almost back to where it was last summer. My co-worker (a cis guy) asked me how it’s going being perceived. At one point, I blurted out, “honestly, I think it’ll help when my hair’s long.” Without missing a beat, he said “yeah, no, it’s totally the hair.” I appreciated his honesty.
