It's a High Temperature, High Pressure field off the coast of Aberdeen and requires a 30km pipeline (45cm exterior, 30cm interior) to take the gas to an existing rig for processing. The main perceived benefit is being able to pump directly into the UK gas distribution network (home heating etc).

Reading around, Lieberman's referring to the Netanayhu of 17+ years ago, who back then recognised a Palestinian State and had talks with Arafat. In response, Netanayhu accused Lieberman of being a leftist (apparently back in the day, he advocated letting Jordan run Areas A + B of the West Bank).

Whenever there's a prominent celebrity death, you can probably bet there'll be a company seeking to make the most unhinged memorial souvenir... 🙄 Who the heck in their right minds would want to buy a Dolly Parton rubber duck?!
Facebook ad: "Honor the unforgettable spirit of a country music legend with this beautifully detailed memorial collectible duck. Featuring glamorous blonde hair, a rhinestone-covered stage outfit and her signature acoustic guitar, every detail celebrates a life filled with music, joy and inspiration." The pictured duck (with hands(!)) also has "Dolly Parton 1946 - 2026 Forever in our hearts" embossed on the front of the "rhinestone-covered stage outfit". If you can't see the image, be grateful!

Unfortunately, even if Dems secure majorities in both the House and Senate, a Senate Trial requires 66 votes - good luck getting even a handful of Republicans to vote against Dear Leader. Assuming a trial even starts - he'd instruct his gov to find every excuse in the book to delay it indefinitely.

Republican States will also try their usual tactics: restrict early voting + proxy voting, regularly purge foreign sounding names from voter lists, and in areas likely to vote Dem, restrict distribution of ballot drop boxes, lock them overnight, restrict polling place locations & opening times etc.

And given those have been flirting with Reform, it remains to be seen whether Reform will use their newly-acquired £72m to pay for favourable media coverage (and distract from the initial £5m & donations from the Cottrells). Meanwhile, reporting by Guardian, Mirror, FT, i will likely be overlooked.

And while they're courting Big Business, Big Media still habitually hates Labour - and while "dead tree" newspapers are declining in circulation, they still set the day's news agenda, so broadcast media will pick up on stories by the traditionally Tory Times, Telegraph, Mail, Express and Sun.

Unfortunately, last year Defra estimated the cost of nationalising water to be £100bn, as the government would need to both buy equity in the companies and assume their existing debt liabilities (the latter as creditors could demand significant compensation in lieu of full repayment).

9/ Data centres currently consume 2.5% of UK electricity. Government projects that figure will rise four-fold by 2030. The Climate Change Committee was not asked to model this. The Seventh Carbon Budget does not name data centres. The question has been avoided with some care.

8/mWales has 2 freeports, 8 SEZs, and now 2 AI Growth Zones. The North Wales zone inherits the Anglesey Freeport architecture. Shanker Singham - adviser to the Anglesey Freeport, to Próspera in Honduras, to Liz Truss's Growth Commission, was at the signing. Not in any official announcement.

7/ The freeport promised 20,000 jobs. The data centre expected to replace it will support around 200 operational roles. This is not a coincidence. It is the consistent arithmetic of the zone model, documented across every iteration.

6/ Teeside. Sunak's flagship Brexit freeport. £560m of public money spent. Land valued at £100m sold to private developers for £110.35. Inquiry declined NAO referral. Houchen awarded a peerage mid-investigation. The freeport is now an AI Growth Zone. Same governance structure/accountability vacuum.

5/ This is the AI Growth Zone model, which is the freeport model, which is the SEZ model. The zone grammar is consistent: designate territory as strategically significant, remove democratic oversight, underwrite private investment with public infrastructure, repeat.

4/ Once something is CNI, arguing against it from below becomes structurally impossible. That's the point. Angela Rayner set the precedent in Dec 2024: overturning a local council's refusal of a 140MW development. The message to every planning authority in the country: refuse, and be overruled.

3/ Planning decisions now go to the Secretary of State, not local authorities. Communities can object. The objections don't have to be heard. This followed the September 2024 designation of data centres as Critical National Infrastructure, the same status as water and emergency services.

But of course, once precedent has been set, it's difficult to override it. "Pledged" Electors arrived once railroads and newspapers made it possible for people to find out about the Candidates themselves. The EC was still kept to stop dense urban votes overriding sparser rural votes.
