‘Digger’ was… actually good? Idk, I really liked it. It felt like if ‘Don’t Look Up’ and ‘Birdman’* had a baby, except I liked that baby. It was on the nose but the pulling-back of the curtain about 35 minutes in gave it an extra layer I both appreciated and didn’t expect. *Another Iñárritu film

Less than two days ago, against all odds, I coordinated a 7-person movie-watching event for ‘Resident Evil’ 🥳 Tonight, for the first time, the specific projector showing ‘Resident Evil’ broke and all showings were canceled. Heartbreak usually feels good in a place like this. Tonight it did not.

Money is tight and there are like 10 things more responsible to spend it on, but if anyone wants to part with a few thousand dollars so I can surprise my partner with tickets to MCR and The Used at the Hollywood Bowl at the end of the month, I do think the experience would heal me on a deep level.

‘Primetime’ review: eh. Performances were great but the story itself just didn’t land. The part about the Producer with a totally normal-sized ego feeling undervalued really resonated tho.

If an NPC was bugged and somehow simultaneously causing some players to log off while causing others to /yell hate speech, Blizz would nuke that NPC from the Vindicaar, then issue an apology-retrospective on how it happened and how they’d avoid this kind of error in the future.

Oooh, I looked into that and — tell me if this is familiar — kept meaning to follow up and do more with it 😅 Still very curious what mine would say. Also, re: crashing, same. But when they work right, meds definitely helped everything prior to 2pm feel a lot faster and more focused.

Very curious what you ultimately end up on! I didn’t start taking meds for mine until about two years ago, and it took a bit of finagling to get right. Adderall IR made me way more irritable than I realized at the time, but switching to XR has been better. (Still get those 2-3pm crashes though.)

Three-day event and we chose the rainy one that ends early lol. Silver lining: Riot Fest itself was good about updating the schedule to truncate most of the bands’ performances (RIP to Afroman’s set though). (Less-silver lining: Most people aren’t checking phones/have no service and don’t know.)

Welp. Guess that’s it. Rats, squirrels, or other critters, it doesn’t really matter at this point. They got all four of them. There are no sunflowers left. And the final one was killed with a very clear message.

A roughly 3-foot tall sunflower bent at the bottom, with the flower itself removed. It’s been murdered by critters.

😭😭😭 what’s especially upsetting is I think the trellises I got after they started attacking the freshly growing sunflowers are the same ones they used to get to them now. I’m pretty sure it’s mostly rats but we also definitely have squirrels that’ll tear this stuff up. Still, damn 😭

Something fucking ate the sunflower. Everything else is fine but the flower? It’s gone. Cleanly removed. Killed before it had the chance to be great.

It’s also not like she job-hopped before this. Over 4 years at one place, hit a wall. Moved to a job in the same industry on the distribution side, stayed there over 3 years and hit the same wall, never breaking $50k. New (male) hires joined on at higher pay. (Also ty all for the vent-support)

Oh, and she was inspired to go back to school for Nursing after very suddenly and unexpectedly losing her parent to cancer. The nursing staff made a huge difference during the whole process with how supportive they were — she wanted to be able to do that for others.

They spent 40 minutes explaining why Nursing school wasn't worth it, encouraging her to be a loyal employee somewhere she can climb her way up, while ignoring that she'd spent several years doing that exact thing. (Surprise! Men were consistently given more opportunities in her old industry.)

A couple weeks back and *right before classes started* — after “supporting” her for 2.5 years — my partner’s family surprise group-called her, intervention-style, to say they think Nursing school “won’t pay off” so they’re no longer willing to cosign loans.
