I think it bears repeating; Putin could end this war today - all he needs to do is stop attacking Ukraine.

Comic. [Person standing holding hammer above raised knee.] PERSON: Listen up, leg. I’ve been sending you rich, oxygenated blood for years, while you send me worthless used-up blood with no oxygen. Time to teach you a lesson about not ripping me off! [caption] Tariffs

AI is not sustainable as the resource hog it currently is. That means it either collapses under its own weight, or it becomes enormously more efficient. In other words, the new data centres popping up everywhere are already stranded assets and wasted money.

As far as I understand it - a two-week ceasefire is NOT a "total and complete victory."

Honest question since I don't know American or general military history: When was the last time that the USA *won* a war? Especially one that they started? Also - when has any US military action resulted in a positive result for the target country?

Wasn't Trump the one that said he didn't need the rest of the world, wanted to leave NATO. Now he is trying to get everyone to get on board with a war he started...

So - if the UK requests access to the Epstein files to pursue the charges against Andrew, will they be sent? will the UK then be in a position to release details relevant to other investigations. The files are not limited to the US or American citizens.

Herzog is an Israeli leader. I admit to not being an expert in the Jewish religious hierarchy, but as far as I know he is not a Judaic leader. Confusing the two is exactly the reason for the Bondi massacre. His presence exacerbates the issue, it doesn't solve it.

HOT (unprecedented) today. Estimated 50C (~120F) in a nearby town. For US readers - that is equivalent latitude to Memphis or Abequeque.

On the Bondi shooting: Antisemitism and Islamophobia are the same thing. They are born of hatred of others, not ideology. Politicians that are stoking this, purely for political gain, are hypocrites of the highest order.

Do I have it correct? Some Senators said that the military should follow the law and their oaths of office. And the President called for their execution?

The terms 'right' and 'left' came from Louis XVI's court. Those who believed the king was the natural leader sat on the right. Those who thought the starving masses had a point sat on the left. That is: the right think everyone should follow the leader, the left believe everyone has right to life.

Has anyone noticed that when Trump shakes Putin's hand he reaches out with palm up. Isn't that considered submissive body language?

Countries are decoupling themselves from the US economy since it is becoming unreliable as a trading partner. "The Productivity Commission says Australia will benefit from Donald Trump's trade tariffs, because some global capital flows will be redirected towards Australia."

Trump's tariffs 'actually good' for Australia, Productivity Commission finds
The federal government's economic think tank says Australia will likely be a winner from Donald Trump's tariffs if it does not retaliate and that we would be better off by removing more of the nation'...

As a non-merkin, I am curious: who can actually take action to remove a sitting president? Protests and polls suggest action is required, but who is able to DO something? Is it Congress, based on the 25th amendment (??) or is there something the people can do? Just asking.

I consider myself to be an Aniarist. If atheist = no god & agnostic = no knowledge, then aniarist = no interest. I simply don't care if God exists or not, it makes no difference to the way I live my life.

As I understand it, the whole point of the second amendment is allow for a "well-armed militia" that is ready and able to counter tyranny. If it does not even work for that, perhaps it does more harm than good. Just saying.

Watching the news, it seems clear that Zelensky - whatever Ukrainian military position - is definitely in control of the narritive internationally. Putin appears to not consider this an important factor. (In case this post might be mis-interpreted: I don't see it as a bad thing)

There seem to be a lot of categorisation errors out there: It is not Israel against Palestine. It is not Judaism against Moslem. It is not even Russia against Ukraine. It is aggressor against defender. THAT is the issue that needs to be addressed.

I want to thank our American associates for taking the hit. Your President's actions have caused a number of countries to re-evaluate their direction and head toward a more progressive approach. Both Canadian and Australian elections are showing a backlash against "Trumpism".
