like if you're a really shitty gay gf but would be a nice person as a straight wife, maybe God makes it come true.

a packet from an airplane that depicts putting on your oxygen mask before a child, but the kid is in, like, a polo and khakis and he looks like zuck. also this thing warns against using your pager or your handheld TV on the plane. it's old

As far as songs, I think his main catalogue is fine but terribly misproduced in the early years. Latter stuff is better. The World as Best as I Remember It volumes are my favorite. I will warn that for everything else he was still *incredibly* Christian and that shows up. happy to make other recs

Tyler is right, I wrote 2 pieces on Rich in the last few years and got to do such a deep dive, including through some of his friends. Here's a fun place to start if you want Rich anecdotes, writings, and so on, that are hard to find now. kidbrothers.net

are there any interesting or quirky translations of the Hebrew Bible? I am enjoying Hart's translation of the NT and would enjoy something as quirky and unnerving and knotty for OT.

Even this, obviously the nuance and depth of biblical scholarship isn't in Sunday School, but it is a thing explained in Exodus 6. (Now, how it came to be explained there and whether you buy theological explanations or prefer historical methods, that's a fun conversation)

i love when atheist or exvangelicals do the "Israel worshipped OTHER gods" or "YHWH had a WIFE" content as if it's a massive fundie conspiracy and not, like, a major point of contention in the Hebrew Scriptures. we know, man. that's the issue. that's much of the point. reflect on it with me.

EXCLUSIVE: When elected officials and advocates in Danbury, Connecticut, said ICE arrested a parent at a school bus stop Aug. 26, federal officials denied their accounts. I got video that appears to show such an arrest. My latest at @ctinsider.bsky.social — www.ctinsider.com/news/article...

ICE has denied it made an arrest at a school bus stop, but confirmed it made 118 arrests in Connecticut that week.

caring for kids is kinda just hard in the way life is hard and i don't think capitalism invented that.

"caring for a child is a privilege, the burden is all the capitalism stuff you have to do." I feel you but I do not think capitalism makes the child pull stuff off the counter.
