I tried my best but I couldn’t stand it so I started a new project and you know what I’m probably going to start a second tomorrow. You’re not the boss of me!

I’m starting a new crochet shawl project because it gives me a dopamine hit. This is a kite-shaped shawl and the yarn is a Mist-ry cake that I put together a while back. The color name that my kiddo gave the yarn cake is Owl House.

Open up this pic and see my grass. In Alabama. In August. Usually by this point in the summer it’s all dead and brown but we’ve had so much rain it looks like this.

I got to do a freaking amazing thing today. I saw the pigment collection at the Fogg Museum at Harvard this afternoon.

Forbes Pigment Collection and Gettens Collection of Binders and Varnishes
The colorful array you see across the courtyard are the samples that make up the Forbes Pigment Collection and the Gettens Collection of Binders and Varnishes. These collections were started at the turn of the 20th century by Edward Waldo Forbes, second director of the Fogg Art Museum, who believed that scientific information could enhance our understanding of how artworks are made and how they age.
These collections are used like reference libraries: we analyze artworks alongside samples of known pigments and binders to identify and authenticate them.
Today, the Forbes and Gettens Collections
have grown to more than 3,500 specimens.
They include ancient samples of Egyptian Blue and Han Purple-the world's oldest synthetic pigments-as well as samples of those invented in the 21st century, such as Vantablack and YInMn blue. The binders include natural and synthetic glues, resins, and oils. Behind you is a case containing samples from the Forbes Pigment Collection, which we change from time to time-feel free to take a closer look!

We said goodbye to this remarkable dog yesterday. We adopted her in 2012 from the shelter. She helped raise two kids, a puppy, and four rats.

Reading on my couch after making dinner. Both dogs are spread out on the floor sleeping like they get paid to snooze. I made an Indian Hot Dish which my family loves and I have dinner ready for the rest of the week. Tomorrow I need to do some writing and catching up on website chores.

We have a feral chicken in our neighborhood and this week she’s been hanging out between my garage and my neighbor’s house. She’s so pretty!

Brunhild, as named by my youngest child, the neighborhood chicken-on-the-loose stares me down from the neighbor’s side yard. She is rusty red and healthy looking, if a bit skittish.
