Writing is how we convey our interiority to the world; it’s our intellectual costume. Your heart and soul on display. Even if original thought is rare, I’d rather read derivative thinking from a real person’s mind than plagiarized ideas generated via a prompt.

A few weeks ago, I removed all the social media apps except Instagram from my phone, and IG is hidden and requires my face to unlock. And yet, last night, I sat in the gym scrolling timelines on my phone's web browser for several lost minutes like some kind of digital addict.

The price of engaging with topics I care about or content I enjoy in spaces where I know like-minded folks exist is that I earn the attention of those who care more about winning algorithmically than connection. Much like literacy, social skills have atrophied in this age of social media.

Drake is more of a character to be portrayed than who Aubrey Graham is as a person. We don't know that guy. We only get "the boy" — a nearly 40-year-old man-child, surprised that transactional relationships mean they are transactional for the other party, too.
