Yeah, I always think of Bill Russell wearing a Nike Celtic's jersey. 😂

I’ll have it on, but it’s mainly just to watch the Toon lads get some minutes. Yeah, they’re basically glorified friendlies, then everyone wonders why players are knackered or picking up injuries. It’s the sheer number of games.

Mate, don't get me started. I enjoy major tournaments and understand qualifying means we need international breaks, but friendlies and Nations League games, which are just glorified friendlies are the absolute pits. There’s just no comparison between club and international football.

Three fucking weeks man. 🤦🏼‍♂️ I genuinely cannot stand the international breaks. #NUFC

In September, rows over Reform’s crypto donations made the news, but it was rows in Newcastle’s backline that stole the headlines, as Jaissle’s side shipped four away at Leeds. #NUFC #PremierLeagueYears

I’d have liked to see us switch to a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1, especially after González went off. It was too much to ask Miley and Steur to cover that space. Burn and Joelinton are huge misses in games like that. They may not be the most technical, but they stop us being bullied. Onto the weekend. #NUFC

Let’s not panic after our first defeat of the season, it was always going to happen. We’ve won & drawn already this season, without playing particularly well. We’ve got a young squad and manager, so it’ll take time. I'm sure last night will be seen as a learning curve.

Also, not forgetting John Champion’s commentary as Nobby scored in the 90th minute; “Bobby Robson does a jig of delight on the touchline and then remembers he’s nearly 69.”

Wouldn’t mind this again tonight! It’s probably one of my favourite Newcastle games. I remember my mam leaving me in Asda’s electronics section, so I could listen to the game while she did the Christmas food shop. I stayed up to watch the highlights that night, buzzing we were still top. #NUFC

I'm sure you'll also be an hour ahead of us in Newcastle. 😂 Hopefully you're not up too late and if you are, make sure to have your siesta.

Too right! The media stuff this summer was ridiculous. It was spoken about like he was away, when we didn't even have a single bid for him.

Pawson’s up there and he tends to be poor in our games, but I’m yet to see Kavanagh referee a game where he doesn’t look out of his depth. Our game Vs Villa in the FA Cup last season showed that.

Maybe I was a bit harsh on the first one. Watching it back, I think he thought Horníček was going to get it, so he does switch off a bit. That said, it was a wicked deflection.

Would have loved a win, but it’s great to come back from two down against a decent side, after a sloppy start. Three big games coming up against Millwall, Leeds and Hull. If we reach the 4th round and pick up more points before the international break, it’ll be a good start to the season. #NUFC

The whole team hasn’t been great first half, but Dedić was at fault for both goals. Very fortunate deflections, but he was caught flat footed for the first and overran the ball in the build up to the second. Great goal from Barnes at a good time. Let’s hope we kick on second half. #NUFC

I can’t see it personally. He isn’t great in the air and gets caught out quite a bit, especially at the back post. I can only see that getting worse if he played CB. I’d also imagine getting knocked about would have him injured as much as he is currently.

Today’s game between Newcastle & Bournemouth is the first Premier League meeting without Eddie Howe in either dugout. Let’s hope for a bit more luck, as our recent record against Bournemouth hasn’t been great. Howay Jaissle’s Mags! ⚫️⚪️ #NUFC

I just can’t see a way in which he’s happy playing as a back up to Hall or Dedič. Even if he’s getting minutes of the bench or if one’s injured. Obviously, his own injuries have got in the way, which is why I don’t think anyone has come in for him. Let’s see, I’d love him to sign a new contract.

My original mock up, was about twice as long. So I've definitely missed some talking points, but after three games and mental summer, I’ve got to ask, are we back? Jaissle’s 2.0 Mags. ⚫️⚪️ #NUFC

Jaissle has impressed immediately and has a real aura. We’re going to need patience, though, he’s a young manager with a young squad and there will be bad patches this season. Overall, having Wilson & Hopkinson feels like having actual adults in the room and something that was missed last summer.

Dan Burn's Missing Finger @missingfinger.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
I’d still have loved a versatile LB/CB, as I think we’re a couple of injuries away from a potential issue, but overall a great set of signings. Disappointed to see Howe go, but it felt right once he said it was time. I’m also glad he left on good terms before the season had started.

I’d love him to stay, but I can’t see him accepting back up minutes. He’s out of contract in 2028, so I imagine he will go next summer. González, our second Rolls Royce. His arrival seemed to calm the whole fanbase. He looked unfazed against Spurs despite playing most of his minutes on a yellow.

it wouldn’t have happened, as a real big hitter was probably likely to come in next year. It slightly reminds me of the Isak signing. Bought at a time when other clubs had sniffed around but maybe weren’t convinced. My only concern on the back of the Dedić signing is, what happens to Tino.

Dedić has looked fantastic despite joining days before his debut. MPF has all the attributes to be a force across the front three. Not important in real life, but as someone who loves FM, I was buzzing to see this get done. I get the feeling that if we hadn’t got him this summer,

didn’t spent a lot with players sales. Big earners have left, we’ve sold well and reportedly cutting around £300K PW from the wage bill. As a rebuild goes, once Eddie and a few players had gone, I think the change needed to happen quickly. Both Dedić & MPF look very exciting.

nearly 29, coming off an injury, may have been good business. It wasn't close to the Isak’s saga, but it would’ve been fascinating to see how it played out if he hadn't got his move, after hiring Kia Joorabchian. Signing’s wise, I’m really happy the average age has drastically dropped and we

Bruno. The one I really wanted to keep. He's probably the best I’ve seen in black & white, and he gave us the best day of our footballing lives in March 2025. To be honest, £75M felt a tad light until González signed, as he was the heartbeat of the team. In hindsight moving on from a player at 28,

That said, £100m all in is fantastic business. Last season he had the chance to take the midfield and lead with Bruno injured, but he didn’t do it. I think it showed what he was about moving to Spurs, as I don’t think he went for footballing reasons. I can see him being off to Italy in a few years.

Dan Burn's Missing Finger @missingfinger.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
I think he’ll thrive in La Liga, especially off the bench. His real test will be in the CL and games against the Madrid's. These will be the games that give us a true reflection of his price and if it was a good deal. Tonali was a monster up and down the pitch who did plenty of dirty work for us.

I think we knew Gordon was going after he missed the final six games of the season. The fee at the time, felt decent for a player who looked to want away. He was electric in his first full season, with 11 goals & 10 assists in the league, but someone that could be very hot and cold.

When I first heard “Newcastle 2.0”, I thought it was a bit of a PR gimmick to get fans back on side. We’d just lost two key players, looked likely to lose our captain, while being linked with Højbjerg & Palhinha. We faced a difficult season with a new manager, without European football.

I’ve waited until the window had closed before putting my thoughts down on Newcastle’s transfer window & summer. For anyone who wants to hear my opinion, here goes. Lots of positives, slight worries and, of course, everything “Newcastle 2.0.” 🧵

Not taking anything away from the opening two league games, as we've been great. Elanga has been excellent, but if you wanted to create ideal games for him, you'd pick teams with attacking FB's who step up. I just don't think he's as effective against a team in a low block, with FB's who sit.

Dan Burn's Missing Finger @missingfinger.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
I think he fully gets that the fans have been burnt this summer with Munoz & Manzambi. If you look at his posts and YT stuff on the lead up to Gonzalez signing, it was very cautions, until he was actually seen in Newcastle. Fabrizio Romano etc, all went way earlier.

Aye, I just think having an actual No 10 who will drift, will be a huge help. I posted about us signing a attacking midfielder last season and I'm excited to see us play one this year. I though Wissa played that position fantastically last week against Liverpool.

Dan Burn's Missing Finger @missingfinger.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
One of my biggest concerns last season was how much we struggled to break down teams, especially in a low block, more so when Bruno was injured. Hopefully having a number 10 gives us another way of doing so. But so far, it's been seriously encouraging. A way better start than I'd imagined. #NUFC

It's been a fantastic start to the season, but I'm really interested to see how we look against a team that's happy to sit behind the ball for 90 minutes. In hindsight, Liverpool and Spurs have probably suited us a bit. Both step up, leave space in behind their FB's and give us something to attack.
