Burnout and Censorship
Do we remember how to advocate for challenging, complicated literature?

I encountered the Biedermeier Period for the first time researching the OG Nosferatu (did you know the 1922 film is a period piece?) & anyway there was absolutely no resonance in learning about a time in which art got really bland to cater to the tastes of a prosperous-but-touchy middle class

We can be hip! We do pop culture! We’re horny for vampires over here as we dig into Dracula AND both Nosferatu films with friend of the pod @madelineandnine.bsky.social. If you’ve ever wondered where the line between film and novel lies, well listen up. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/d...

Dentist always makes me feel like a dog being taken to the vet. Mildly sedated. Discomfort you are assured is for your long-term benefit. Everyone very preoccupied with preventing a Biting Incident.

I almost forgot to post that I recorded an EXCELLENT episode with @jessversus.bsky.social about tattoos, Roald Dahl, and how you should always be suspicious of the rich. You can find it here or on the usual platforms! www.didntreaditpod.com/episodes/hol...

I definitely feel I'm Jokerfying. You look one way and you've got 4 different Beavis-Snokes deleting every third grandpa from social security and in the other it's an economy currently hinging on the success of the least profitable software product of all time that is also destroying the earth.

We have a NEW EPISODE up about a story by Nathaniel Hawthorne called “Rappaccini’s Daughter.” Listen to @misscajlin.bsky.social and Galen Canham discuss an important life lesson: why it’s so messed up to keep your daughter in a garden of poisonous plants until she herself becomes poisonous.
A train charges into a bus. The train is labeled “the intended moral of a Nathaniel Hawthorne story” and the bus is labeled “the reader”

A very very close-up picture (mostly nose) of a pitty mutt dog sticking her face almost directly into my armpit in an attempt to get her belly rubbed before it is time for work. Photo from the perspective of my chin, roughly.
