miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 02/09/2026little bit late, but I made this for another August #colorpalettechallenge over on tumblr. This is my oc Kith performing the role of a wolf in a ceremonial dance. She's tearing apart a funeral shroud to symbolize the cycle of life and death. #ocsky #fantasy #orc #digitalart 051
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 02/09/2026I think my amphibious goblins and their non sapient cousin species, a giant olm-like wyrm, are one of the best unique ideas I've had. Making the orcs and gnomes closely related was also a very fun choice. Also my centaurs! They are chimeric twin chalicothere people and they are massive. 151
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Humans are extinct in the world I've built. They have left behind many ruins and artifacts, which non human archaeologists are fascinated by! Also the dwarves are actually a hominid species, so they're technically the humans of this world. And some human DNA was used to create the quetzalin. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Elvish architecture always incorporates whole living trees. While they no longer spend as much time in the forest canopies as their ancestors did, they still prefer to live in the trees and they use botanical singers to shape that living wood into homes and other buildings. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 02/09/2026The quetzalin, because they were created from scratch rather than having a deity coax them through evolution towards a specific goal. Their species has only existed for about 3000 years at best. They're quite the anomaly. 030
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 02/09/2026There are pinniped merfolk, insectoid pixies, and also chalicothere centaurs. The orcs and gnomes also have four-digit hands and feet like cloven hooves, as well as porcine snouts. Most of my people are bipedal and do have distinct hands and feet. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 02/09/2026The orcs and gnomes, despite their size difference, are closely related enough to bear fertile offspring. The sylvanids (elves, stroi, and drow) look more similar but have more distance between their species. Drow/elf hybrids are rare and always infertile. Stroi can hybridize both ways a bit better. 030
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 02/09/2026All people are capable of channeling magic energy and learning how to use it. As for biological defense, orcs have big tusks, goblins can secrete toxic mucus from their skin, and pixies have big stingers. Don't ever provoke a pixie sting, you will seriously regret it. 030

miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 30/08/2026The pixies are insects, the goblins are amphibians, and the quetzalin are mostly birdfolk but they do have an odd mix of some mammalian traits. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Goblins produce toxins in their skin mucus depending on their diet. With the right balance, it can be used in medication. But some folks prefer it as an intoxicant, and there are goblins who will sell their own mucus as a drug or an additive for alcohol. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 30/08/2026The orcs practice funerary cannibalism. Direct descendants of the recently deceased will consume a tiny portion of their loved one's flesh, as soon after death as possible, in honor of their connected blood. The rest of the body is buried to return to nature, the skull is kept in a family shrine. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 30/08/2026I have an elf cousin species (stroi) whose culture uplifts the relationship between bonded hunters, having a whole ritual and ceremony around proving the bond and then marking their faces with a matching symbol. It's usually a platonic relationship. 020

miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 20/08/2026another #colorpalette piece, this is my #oc Xulic, a drow paleontologist. 171
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 20/08/2026Body language differs between every people species. So that's been a tricky problem. The goblins are at odds with everyone else because they're the only amphibians. The pixies are the only insectoid people, so they're really misunderstood. The quetzalin are still a mystery to most other folks. 140
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 20/08/2026Contrary to the orcs, the quetzalin birdfolk have a very good relationship with the centaurs in their region. The centaurs appreciate their ability to remove external parasites like ticks. And the quetzalin enjoy the protection of having friends who are 12ft tall and can chase of any threat. 030
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 20/08/2026The orcs and centaurs evolved as natural predator and prey, so as they both became sapient this obviously caused problems and there was a whole series of wars about it. The orcs conceded defeat and were ousted from centaur territory. Centuries later, there is still tension between their peoples. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Drow and pixies are both eusocial, having a single member per group that gives birth to the rest, and a small number of males siring all those offspring. Goblins lay their eggs all together and raise their offspring communally. They don't track parentage. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 17/08/2026The gnomes in particular worship the sun, but many elf pantheons also include deities associated with celestial bodies. Surprisingly, the quetzalin, despite being birdfolk, primarily worship a tree deity and do not have a sky deity. It's also common to associate the moons and sky arc with spirits. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 17/08/2026I suppose it depends on how you define "urban". There are no fully modern looking big cities with skyscrapers. But there are many cities and towns with neighborhoods, market streets, etc. People do live in densely populated areas. The more diverse it is, the more it will develop. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 17/08/2026The gnomes are very well known for their nomadic lifestyle. They travel along the sun's path from east to west and back again, between the inland mountains and the coast. It's a lifestyle of choice rather than necessity, driven by their religion. They worship a sun god and a mountain goddess. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 17/08/2026There are multiple forest-dwelling people species here. Elves are quite arboreal, while their cousin species, the stroi, thrive in the underbrush. Centaurs are also forest dwellers, especially well adapted to the temperate rainforests. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 17/08/2026The drow live in deep caverns. They can still live outside, but they were driven underground by tragic circumstances and have since adapted to it. Their skin should be pale, but they eat so many domestic purple cave snails that their bodies absorb that pigmentation. They're also eusocial. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Most of my people groups have adapted to live in climates around the world. The quetzalin birdfolk and the amphibious goblins both originated from a tropical rainforest, so they are very well adapted for a hot and humid environment. 020
miss.m.winks @miss-winks.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Gnomes, dwarves, and ogres are all mountain-dwelling folk, for the most part. The dwarves live more inside the mountains while ogres and gnomes live on the outside. Ogres are best adapted for it though, having dense fur and strong claws. Ogre fur yarn is a useful trade good as well. 020
