You may finally rest easy at night since SICs exist in all dimensions! github.com/marozols/SIC... SICs are d² unit vectors in d complex dimensions with pairwise equal inner products. Their existences in all dimensions d was conjectured by Zauner in 1999. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIC-POVM

1/ New paper with Tim Hoffreumon! Does real quantum theory (RQT) remain experimentally indistinguishable from ordinary quantum theory once we include fermions and superselection rules? Yes. arxiv.org/abs/2610.06767

Fermions and the Tsirelson Problem in Real Quantum Theory
In a previous work, we showed that real quantum theory (RQT) cannot be experimentally distinguished from ordinary quantum theory (QT). In this paper, we investigate whether this indistinguishability…

1/3 New work with Pablo Gaviria! Quantum gates face a gate-speed/error tradeoff: stronger pulses make gates faster, reducing decoherence—but increase leakage, off-resonant excitation & crosstalk. Can quantum resources break this tradeoff? arxiv.org/abs/2609.19280

Deeply saddened to learn that Rafael Sorkin is no more. One of the deepest and most original thinkers of quantum gravity and the pioneer of causal set theory, he was also among the nicest, gentlest physicists I have met.

1/2 Our work is now published in PRX! We show that the logical paradoxes associated with the Frauchiger–Renner experiment—and, more generally, any Wigner’s friend experiment—can be fully resolved without imposing extra assumptions or restrictions. journals.aps.org/prx/abstract...

General Quantum Circuit Framework for Extended Wigner's Friend Scenarios: Logically and Causally Consistent Reasoning without Absolute Measurement Events
Researchers develop a quantum circuit framework for extended Wigner's friend scenarios, resolving logical paradoxes by tracking Heisenberg cuts.

In my recent preprint scirate.com/search?utf8=... Tim and I prove that the main conclusions of this Nature paper [600, 625–629 (2021)] are wrong: they claimed that Real Quantum Theory (RQT)---an alternative theory to quantum theory proposed in the 80s and 90s---can be experimentally falsified (1/4)

(1/3) If you've missed Sabine's @skdh recent take before the holidays on my co-authored work w/ Timothee Hoffreumon on why Quantum Theory doesn't need complex numbers, here it is www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPer... I think it's quite accurate (both our work and that of the Germans).

Nice surprise in the mail: just got a cool new t-shirt from the @simonsinstitute.bsky.social!
A t-shirt that reads "I have a proof for P not equal to NP, but it's hard to verify"

quantamagazine.org/physicists-tak… Quanta covers our work scirate.com/arxiv/2504.028& that of the German team's showing that quantum theory doesn't need complex numbers. In addition to the discussion here, we show that quantum theory based on real numbers is consistent with the postulates!
