Working a shrine has been an important part of my personal practice. Setting lights, pouring libations, lighting incense, saying words are all activities that empower the shrine & over time it takes on a life of its own & becomes a powerful place to communicate with the gods. This is a picture of part of our Minoan shrine at Alsos Ampelos in Central Florida. The ever expansive ocean, with all the riches that she provides. While ancient Minoans had an agricultural system which relied mainly on olives and grapes, the ocean was a main source for sustenance. The art of the Minoan civilization often depicted ocean scenes, including dolphin, octopi, fish etc.

Long before the Classical Period of the well-known Greeks, there was the Bronze Age that included the Minoan Civilization. Although the civilization did not survive, much was left for us to gain a glimpse into their lives. The frescoes found in Minoan palaces were incredibly detailed. #knossos
