I haven't seen any reviews of the cartridge yet, so this is not an endorsement. Just something to pay attention too if your into this stuff.

Mindy @mindyfraser.com · 30/09/2026

ALSO there is now a rom-cartridge that has ir support: handheld.deals/deal/dspico-ir this means you can play a rom of soul silver & be able to use the pokewalker. Those are....around $100 though. (I looked into it because I wanted to share my 2nd pedometer but it was missing from the box anyway)

121

Mindy @mindyfraser.com · 30/09/2026

I wanted it because I like pedometers, and this isn't something you can play with a rom hack - you need the hardware too. I didn't know it existed until I saw the marketplace listing, and I was like, I think I want this?

I got this dumb walking tracker game! I think it's only one of 7 ds games that have an IR sensor in the cartridge (the other 6 being pokemon games) later, the 3ds had an ir sensor built into the console.

I'm obsessed with Animal Crossing New Leaf, and I like it a million times more than New Horizons. Better npc's, upgradable shops, less friction, no constant crafting basic tools. It's so chill, I have 140 hours on it already.

Mindy @mindyfraser.com · 28/09/2026

Kind of mad about how much better the 3DS was compared to the switch. It's super cool to go back in time and spot the conventions I've gone too by the names of the mii's.

Biggest take away from Beast Wars ep1: They scan local wildlife to take new forms > one robot says "I'm a cheetah" > they have no idea what planet they're on This implies there are enough planets with cheetahs on them for the location to be indeterminable. Many space cheetahs.

Mindy @mindyfraser.com · 26/09/2026

I do like JellyFin, but it's displaying Beast Wars as some 1950's variety show.

I was thinking today about the most valuable, most applicable lesson I learned in my entire legal admin course at VCC; in a letter writing course the teacher said never to use "just". Don't type out "I just wanted to...", have the balls to say "I wanted to..". Always delete just.

I can live with the drawbacks, the only place I want to watch TV is my own couch (maybe my bed if I'm being a goblin). I got Jellyfin going and it does the one thing I need it to do, so I'm good.

Done. That was pretty easy to set up, with an instructional youtube assist. There were some poor reviews online but all I need it to do is play movies with minimal features, I am a creature of the 90's.

I want to watch movies on my tablet without having to constantly download & delete files on my tiny amount of memory. If anyone has suggestions I'm open to them.

Plex wants to charge me a subscription fee so I can watch my own movies hosted on my own server, while they sell my data. As a society, we need to stop making software subscription services profitable because they are an offense to decency.

I've become obsessed with Animal Crossing New Leaf (I don't have to constantly craft tools, so I like it better than NH) And I've also picked Eloise. She's top tier. Wumiibo has made my 3DS even better in 2026.

My grandma sent me her church's pride set up so I'm sharing it here. Overall I feel positive about it.

the evolution from "I paid $2 to make this song my ringtone" to "this device will never command my attention ever again" sure did happen.

for anyone else on this path, use PKSM on a modded 3DS to clone your pokemon in-game (cartridge and digital both work) then move the clones to pokemon bank. then pay nintendo $4 for the paid version of Pokemon Home for a month (it's a subscription) so you can move them over.

010

Mindy @mindyfraser.com · 18/08/2026

I haven't cared about pokemon in a while, but Pokemon Bank is shutting down so it's now or never to move pokes from the 3ds upward. At the very least, I should move over all the starters & legendaries.

Guess who's battery just died today! my ride buddy. After everything I JUST went through, we were on our way out and he couldn't get get it going "oh yeah it was having a hard start last few times and it's 8 years old"

010

Mindy @mindyfraser.com · 14/08/2026

PKSM lets you do a lot of stuff, but at what point does it cheapen your experience playing? Everyone will have a different answer, I did buff some stats and put a few masterballs in my bag tho.

010

Mindy @mindyfraser.com · 14/08/2026

I got a battery for my old 3DS so I can check my activity logs, here are my pokemon hours played: White2: 272 Platinum: 55 Y: 671 Heart Gold: 65 X: 45 Omega Sapphire: 268 Sun: 142 Moon: 79

120

Mindy @mindyfraser.com · 14/08/2026

I put PKSM on my 3DS, this lets me view & edit pokemon in any game - digital or cartridge. My shiny pidgey did in fact have an attack stat of 1. It was kind of funny watching him punch air in front of other pokemon but I buffed him all the way up to 31. So now he murders.
