Hi #queerwriters and #LGBTQWriteAThon! My week was excellent: I finished the first draft of my novel yesterday! Coming in at about 81500 words, it took 21 months to get this far.

Hi #queerwriters and #LGBTQWriteAThon! I’m nearing the end of the first draft of an adult sci-fi novel that mingles kids-on-bikes, teenage queer awakening, religious dystopia, adult queer survival, time slips, and dinosaurs. I’m so excited to be nearing the end after nearly two years of work.

cw: intentional weight loss Pretty solid start to October for me. Mental health is improving after the lows of the summer. Relationship with my nesting partner is excellent and nurturing. Got my book doc open, with the end in sight. And this morning I’m below 300 lbs for the first time in 5 years!

Hi #queerwriters and #LGBTQWriteAThon! I’m Rick, a genderqueer author of SFFH and poetry! I love dinosaurs, nature, and photography. My goal is to finally finish the first draft of the novel I’ve been poking at since January 2025. I’m only two, maaaaybe three chapters from getting the story down.

Between playing D&D at a game cafe this morning, watching the 2004 Phantom of the Opera this evening, and seeing pics from an online acquaintance’s polyam handfasting ceremony at a ren faire just now, I’m having major nostalgia for being a starry-eyed young poly nerd in the mid-2000s.

That chapter I thought I finished? Had to add four more pages to it; it feels much more complete now. Also began work on the final two chapters, one climax in each timeline. I may or may not need an additional chapter for falling action and resolution, who knows. Wordcount: 76825.

we need to return to sci-fi book covers being little people in the foreground with immense looming wonders in the background
the cover for The Last Legends of Earth, which shows people fishing in a hamlet of thatch-roof catches while vast sci-fi pylons loom in the background the cover of Shadow of the Torturer which shows Severian walking away from a city of spires some art by Eddie Jones that shows people getting out of a UFO and walking towards a massive gate, beyond which is a blood red moon tiny figures in the foreground observe a giant woman sleeping in a lake of blood
