It's time to come up with new terminology. Interesting that 'Queer' was left off.

The invitation to yield to God whose ways are higher than our ways is the opposite of becoming doormats. There’s no giving up here; no passive throwing up our hands in weak resignation to the evils we deplore. No! It’s all hands on deck; mustering all of our skills and critical savvy— 4/7

There must be something counter-intuitive going on here, that somehow, yielding to God’s will and trusting in God’s provision actually FORTIFIES one’s courage; and energizes one to take risks for the sake of the Gospel. Imagine that!...... 3/7

….. So Anabaptists were admired for their gelassenheit, their yieldedness, yet they were feisty, stubborn, outspoken people. They resisted the powers that be. They refused to swear loyalty oaths to earthly rulers. They put their live on the line to witness to the truth of the Gospel. 2/7

"Love your neighbour as yourself." "Do to others as you would have them do to you." These push us toward empathy. We're to imagine what it's like to be the other person, to have their needs. When a Christian calls empathy sin, they're telling on themselves. They simply don't want to follow Jesus.

People in my life are experiencing heightened antagonism for being trans, queer, &/or a person of colour. There's a further emboldening happening as a result of what we are seeing from our governments and in the wider culture. This is going to get worse. This is not a drill. RESIST.
