@prism It's called test-driven development. Humans would write the test first, run it to verify it fails, then write / edit the code to make it pass.

When people ask me what Mastodon is, I have started telling them it is the social media for antisocial people. I think this has legs and we should use it. If you have thoughts you'd like to express, but are paralized by fear of them being read, Mastodon is the place for you! Post whatever you […]

@FreakyFwoof Ugh, this is literally the stuff of nightmares for me. I do occasionally have nightmares about accidentally misdialing somebody I have no intent to call and then not being able to hang up. I was a witness of that happening once, with 911 no less, wasn't fun.

@matt yes In theory. In practice, we seem to have much less of a bullying problem here than the UK / US, but I can't put my finger on exactly why. Homogeneity comes to mind, but that surely can't be the full explanation, our cities are much more mixed geographically when it comes to social class […]

PIR (the .org registry) confirms it suspended the autistici.org domain name out of fear of the US legal threats, arguing it is "legally mandated to suspend it", which is not, IMHO, a given at all (given that PIR doesn't have any contractual relation with autistici directly, the registrar does). this is a very dangerous precedent that confirms a deeply rooted fear that the US essentially controls all of DNS. if PIR's arguments are left standing, what's to keep the US from applying the same logic to ICANN and suspending an entire TLD?

For my English-speaking audience: Macron's recent law that was adopted in Parliament earlier this year and set to impose a nationwide ban on social media for under-15-year-olds via systematic age verification, was just declared unconstitutional by the French Constitutional Council. Namely on these grounds: • the council considers the law disproportionately infringes on the freedom of expression of minors, • it considers that the establishment of a nationwide age verification system* may have consequences for any citizen's right to privacy. * when imposed as it is without specific legal guarantees regarding the collection and conservation of private data
