PIR (the .org registry) confirms it suspended the autistici.org domain name out of fear of the US legal threats, arguing it is "legally mandated to suspend it", which is not, IMHO, a given at all (given that PIR doesn't have any contractual relation with autistici directly, the registrar does). this is a very dangerous precedent that confirms a deeply rooted fear that the US essentially controls all of DNS. if PIR's arguments are left standing, what's to keep the US from applying the same logic to ICANN and suspending an entire TLD?

For my English-speaking audience: Macron's recent law that was adopted in Parliament earlier this year and set to impose a nationwide ban on social media for under-15-year-olds via systematic age verification, was just declared unconstitutional by the French Constitutional Council. Namely on these grounds: • the council considers the law disproportionately infringes on the freedom of expression of minors, • it considers that the establishment of a nationwide age verification system* may have consequences for any citizen's right to privacy. * when imposed as it is without specific legal guarantees regarding the collection and conservation of private data

I was asked a question... What is considered elegant if you are rich, but trashy if you are poor. My response.: Speaking a 2nd language. Got some confused looks, so I explained. If you are rich, speaking more than one language is seen as a sign of being educated, well travelled and civilised. But if you are poor, you get branded as some lazy, uneducated immigrant here to steal other peoples jobs whilst also claiming all of the benefits... at least that's how the bigots like to portray it. Saw a few light bulbs going of in peoples faces. Remember... you can give people the opportunity to reflect on the way they have been conditioned to think, with just a few well chosen words.
