Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Tonight: original tatty cut in reissue sleeve. The reissued vinyl sounded two dimensional compared to the original: okay in itself but lacked so much life next to the original. 020
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Tonight: let's see if it brings back what the LP/DVD set lost. 200
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 04/10/2026That was over too quickly so an extra couple of 12" #WeekendSingles. The Heat Is On has a second 12" mix (maybe even a dub too) which was on a separate 12" in the UK. It's largely the same until it does something less fun for a bit then it may come back again. I didn't keep it... 080
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 04/10/2026#WeekendSingles 7" edition. The Derrick & Hortense single is fantastically reggae in that the labels are on the wrong sides but I think the matrix numbers match the labels so arguably the songs are on the wrong sides instead. 0100
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Enjoyed Dancing With Myself so much that I've put this banger on which includes another DWM 12" mix. #WeekendSingles 190
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Revised 12" #WeekendSingles post without the personal info. Word Up is a rock cover of the Cameo track. 1110
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 04/10/2026What was my favourite mug is slowly being dishwashed out of my life. 000
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Also tonight: mono & clean sound but needs more bite on at least Watts Breakaway and Um, Um, Um... 000
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I've got that Townhouse cut still and another tatty Townhouse cut which I was given kept for DJing but I don't think I've ever DJ'd with it and don't really have the opportunity at the moment! Both have the fade. 010
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Tonight: bought as part of a twofer with 2nd Honeymoon. I didn't get on with this the first time I played it: the sound quality of the record is a big step down from the first and I don't know if that was a big part of it or I just didn't like the material as much. 010
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Also tonight: US gatefold sleeve with lyrics, UK cut. 030
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Good morning! Today's 12" #WeekendSingles includes about 45 mins of music from Herbie Hancock. Autodrive is cut from the same cloth as Rockit but by a less stylish tailor. The German version of 19 to my memory is less UK repro than the other language counterparts. Starting top left then clockwise. 1110
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Tonight: the single version of Pretty Paracetamol was retitled First Impressions (Pretty Paracetamol) with all lyrical references to paracetamol replaced. 000
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Tonight: sadly Computer Love is not a Kraftwerk cover. 010
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Tonight: starts off sounding like it's in mono with a lovely bass sound, vocals, and percussion. The brass comes in widely panned either side, clear and sharp. 010
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Tonight: so much crammed on a side that the signal to noise ratio is rather compromised. EQ alright though. 020
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Another one sided 12" #WeekendSingles. The Saleiri Mix (with variations of mix title) accompanied the hit version of the single. It plays slower than the single mix and is quite long. The co-writers & producers wrote & performed the original version of In The Army Now better known by Status Quo. 160
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Oh go on, another near 8 mins of survival - this time in Italian! #WeekendSingles 070
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 20/09/202612" #WeekendSingles. The Grant/Graham 12" crept out with two different remixes but with the same sleeve and cat. no. The Falco remix is the longer version of the mix that hit in the UK but wasn't released until a later single's 12" b-side. Playing only 1 side for 2nd Grant & Falco, poss Gaynor too. 270
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Good morning! Today's #WeekendSingles includes a cheap upgrade copy of a Barry Manilow 45 (the sleeve at least) and you know what? I rate it above the Four Seasons version. Starting top left then clockwise playing both sides for both pictures. 2130
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Tonight: I'm not sure about this late 60s production and mix panning. 011
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Tonight: cheap and sleeveless. First track has a ska bounce to it. 010
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Tonight: their first album when they were a band and not yet a duo. Found in a twofer with their second album, but sleeve and and one label from each record very mouldy: sleeve, and print from the two labels gone! 000
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 13/09/20267" #WeekendSingles. Dolly Parton did a good version of In The Ghetto too. 0120
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Good morning! Today's 12" #WeekendSingles play pile includes two editions of Erasure's Ship of Fools. They hold different mixes of the same three songs which is a pretty cool way to do it. Keeping The Dream Alive plays as normal then has a reprise at the end. Starting top left then clockwise. 0141
Mike the Fish @mikethefish.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Sometime before PYE were using the semi transparent vinyl formula. 100
