The editorial cartoonist's pen is one of the sharpest tools in journalism, whittling issues down to basics for satire or rage. I'm proud to say that my long-ago colleague, Milt Priggee, is unafraid to shock with a tough point of view.

6 hours in the Celtic sea on a pelagic birding trip today. Some great birds and some good laughs. This raft of Great Shearwater calling to each other was a surprise.

‘twas a busy day volunteering at my local RSPB reserve Mediterranean Gulls had chicks, as did most of the Black-headed Gulls, waders & ducks. We await the appearance of the Spoonbill fledglings (hopefully) and the Sand Martin fledglings. Bird of the day ? Bee Orchid (I know but it’s fab) #ukbirding

Just back from a smashing birdy morning near Daresbury (Cheshire) The main attraction was this smart Woodchat Shrike - perhaps the first one I have seen in Cheshire. Lots of other birds about and a surprisingly diverse range of flowers on the tow path of the Bridgewater Canal. #ukbirds #ukbirding

The Big Give is LIVE, and your chance to help Turtle Doves is here! 🕊️ Turtle Doves need us more than ever—and for this week only, every £1 you donate to Operation Turtle Dove will be doubled. Don’t miss this chance to make twice the difference: donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05...
A beautifully illustrated scene of a Turtle Dove in graceful flight. Its soft, mottled plumage of golden-brown and black is intricately detailed, with a flash of white framing the tail feathers. The serene blue sky, with wispy clouds and a hint of snow falling softly, provides a peaceful, wintery backdrop. Below, a patchwork of frosted green fields and winding country paths stretches across the landscape, dotted with cottages, hedgerows, and shimmering streams. This tranquil depiction highlights the Turtle Dove's vital connection to rural habitats, a poignant reminder of the importance of conservation efforts for this declining species.
