Much of the time I've been writing Alfred the Great's story of resisting invasions of Wessex has coincided with Ukraine resisting invasion. That has often been in my mind as I wrote. I do sincerely hope that President Zelensky and Ukraine survive and succeed in spite of yesterday.

Lovely reader review: 'Alfred of Wessex': "Brilliant book, full of atmosphere and character development. If you read and enjoyed Cornwell’s Saxons Stories you’ll enjoy this telling of Alfred’s story from a slightly different perspective." #historicalfiction #booksky www.amazon.com/Alfred-Wesse...

Just listened to the interview with Richard Osman at the end of the audiobook of his 4th Thursday Murder Club. One snippet - he edits away very little at the editing stage, preferring to mostly edit chapters as he writes (as do I). Also - how he reveals characters' lives slowly. #writers #books

Yes, there has been a plan for a while to set a cut-off date for when 'forgotten paths' could be registered as public footpaths. Public footpaths are meant to be kept in good condition by the landowner. So there has been a campaign to register them. The new government has got rid of the cut-off date
