#BirdOfTheDay theme is #firsts so I think this might be my first bird photo. Certainly one of the first. Taken taken on my old Minolta film camera in the 90s. Slightly cheating on subject but there is a #bird in it!

Ok, been a tough summer to make time, but I'm doing this #birdOfTheDay on hard mode with the theme #oneTwoThreeFour with each group being the same kind of bird, and all groups being the same kind of bird #Greylag #geese (the last photo is more than four but oh well - four adults counts right?)

I've got a Vulture being kicked off a stump by a Roseate Spoonbill (which then didn't even stick around!) #BirdOfTheDay #FirstWingBeat #birding #orlandowetlands

Love this set of themes. I think this captures #negativespace and #solitude so a high efficiency opportunity for #BirdOfTheDay

For #HeadShots #BirdOfTheDay I have this Great blue #heron- note the vivid blue lores of breeding season- #birding #OrlandoWetlands

A close up shot of a great blue heron showing a light orange beak, the blue lores indicate breeding season with the wispy feathers behind the head curling in a breeze. The Bacchus is soft focus vegetation with a small strip of sky above.

Few things are as intense as the gaze of a hunting #heron… you really don’t want to be the other end of that beak. #BirdOfTheDay #lockedOn #birding. A green heron and a great blue heron

They were a bit active which gave me some chance but obscured from most angles. I took a lot of images as could barely tell what I was getting even with the digital TC to help frame/focus, they aren’t great technically but good memories. Bonus frame…

For #raptors a few from earlier in the year. A Red shouldered #hawk, an #Osprey, and less technically good photo (long, long way away and I wasn’t going closer to disturb) *three* #eaglets in a nest. #BirdOfTheDay #birding #birds

And for me an #osprey complete with blown out “neutral” background #passportphoto theme for #BirdOfTheDay - taken at Merritt Island earlier in the year.

#CamoOrContrast theme for #BirdOfTheDay — a Great horned owl, and you can’t really not have a bittern (American) for this theme

A Reddish #egret for the #longNecks theme of #BirdOfTheDay looking out over a lake (which was *teeming* with alligators — so a bonus baby gator picture taken in more or less same spot.

A long legged bird perched on an evergreen branch with tall grasses partly obscuring it. A lake is the blurry background. The bird has the reddish neck it is named after and is looking out over the lake.

A very small baby alligator - head and forelegs with rest of body out of shot. It is on the edge of some water which is covered in pondweed which also coats the body of the gator.
