UNDERTONE is the first horror movie since SKINAMARINK where I’ve had to sleep with the lights on. I wanted it to be over. Not because it was bad, but because I wanted off what felt like a train ride of terror. One of the most stressful cinematic experiences of my life.

The first 94% of THE FABELMANS is insufferable but the last three scenes - and the final camera tilt - are perfect (and should’ve been released as a short film).

The final shot of The Fabelmans, where a young Steven Spielberg - who has a different name in the movie but come on, that was pointless - walks into the sunset at a movie studio. The horizon is not in the middle of the frame, so it’s not boring.

I'm nearly finished the book. There's nothing sexy contained within its pages. It's about generational cycles of abuse. It's clear to me that Emerald Fennell wants to make Bridgerton instead. It's gonna be a trainwreck, and I'm gonna be there opening weekend to witness it run off the tracks.

#TheConjuringLastRites will only land if you already have an investment in this franchise. Luckily, I do, thanks to Farmiga and Wilson’s endearing presence that makes it worth staying for. Chaves isn’t Wan, but it's clear he's improved over the last film in crafting a spooky final chapter.

Is it just me, or is anybody else not feeling this? The sets look too clean, which adds a layer of artifice to the visuals that is keeping me at arm's length. Look at the version from 1994. It looks dirty and chaotic; the work of a mad man. Del Toro's design looks and feels digitally glossy.
