Miguel Trindade Deramo, ANC @miguelfordc.bsky.social · 19/03/2026Turf replacement at Malcolm X Park is WAY overdue. But closing the entire lawn without community engagement has rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way. I'm working closely with local NPS leadership to find an alternative plan that preserves some access to DC's vital town square. wapo.st/4t0b1Cxwapo.stWhy the iconic drum circles at D.C.’s Malcolm X Park are going silentA $15 million project is underway to repair the fountain at the park, also known as Meridian Hill Park, and restore grass on the upper level, among other changes. 363

Miguel Trindade Deramo, ANC @miguelfordc.bsky.social · 31/10/202570 commissioners also sent a letter to Council this week calling for a hearing. We do not have a clear idea of MPD’s ground rules for working with (or near) the feds post-emergency. The executive has been reticent to answer questions, or has given contradictory answers. We need a public hearing. 12911
Miguel Trindade Deramo, ANC @miguelfordc.bsky.social · 29/10/2025…which is why 70 commissioners (including me) sent a joint letter to Council calling for just that. What are MPD’s ground rules, coming from the top? Are officers well briefed on them? In what ways are officers being allowed to operate alongside federal personnel? How are they documenting that? 002
Miguel Trindade Deramo, ANC @miguelfordc.bsky.social · 29/10/2025Community leaders, school principals & churches have written multiple times to @mayorbowser.dc.gov for clarification on MPD’s rules & internal guidance on federal cooperation. They haven’t heard back. Basic transparency and accountability are being frustrated. We need Council oversight. 152
