The third vote among these nominees went the same way.

This time, the nominee received a 27:7 win, with CM Harrell joining the same previous "no" votes.

"... 90% of the time." Her understanding of the statement was that the board members were open to looking at more information. She says she doesn't want to write off people who she disagrees with on one thing. She describes "this cancel culture" as "shrinking our tent" as we "lose people."
101
Middle Tennessee DSA @midtndsa.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
CM Suara responded that she agrees with him about the Boring Tunnel, but talked about the "cancel culture of people going against each other" after the last Titan's stadium vote (she voted for it--at the time calling it "the better of two bad options."). This is despite "being in agreement...."

CM Capp spoke again. He frames it as voting against self-government. He describes the vote as being about an oligarchic attack on the people of Nashville and getting governance over the Convention Center that will stand up for people (~23:28)

The first of the nominees passes their vote 28:6, with only CMs Parker, Capp, Bradford, Weslch, Vo, and Sepulveda voting "no."

Middle Tennessee DSA @midtndsa.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
CM Gamble says that this isn't a referendum on the tunnel. She says that this Music City Convention Board doesn't have that power and describes not confirming them as "punishing" or "retaliating" against them.

Here is where CM Capp's statement starts: www.youtube.com/live/xHHI6f0... (~13:48) CM Capp notes that three of the nominees take a positive view or are open to the idea of the Tesla tunnel.

Trying to keep up with speakers, and not making it tonight. I’ll follow up when I have a pause button and time codes.

Middle Tennessee DSA @midtndsa.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Our next speaker talks about our rural neighboring counties opposing ICE call centers and AI data centers. She describes the brutality of ICE, going through a list of cruel incidents. Calls on council to oppose.
001
Middle Tennessee DSA @midtndsa.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Fourth speaker describes ICE as being like the Trail of Tears on steroids. But hopefully cites the student movement in the city against Segregation. Describes this as a moment of choice. Do not work with dehumanizing cruelty.

Middle Tennessee DSA @midtndsa.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Trying to keep up. Doing poorly. Again, this will be on YouTube. Watch on the link I’ve posted. I will update the time codes when possible.

Second speaker: Lifelong educator working with Nashville kids. What do we teach our kids allowing an ICE call center in our community. “Fear is not an environment where young people can thrive.”

Middle Tennessee DSA @midtndsa.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
First speaker in public comments: Puts the ICE call center in the context of growing fascism, calling out Trump’s memo describing the enemies of the right wing as “terrorists.” Not acting is complicity, not innocence.

Early surprise: Opposition to Convention Center Authority board members to re-appointment. CM Capp calling out current board’s complicity in the Boring Company’s ill-conceived Tesla Tunnel. See more on YouTube (live now, will post time codes later): www.youtube.com/live/xHHI6f0...

Middle Tennessee DSA @midtndsa.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
Motion to approve the amendments without debate passes and the bill itself passes by a voice vote (as the second reading did as well). The first reading pass overwhelmingly by voice vote with CM Styles voting “no” and CMs Eslick and Lee abstaining.

Many CMs have stood to speak on RS2026-2146, which honors Vonda McDaniel, the late President of the Nashville Central Labor Council (CLC). She was an incredible organizer, labor leader, and friend to many. I will add a timecode for the tributes when the video is no longer live.

CM Porterfield brings up the Driving While Black Report, which noted the apparent targeting of the Black community in traffic stops. She notes that MNPD traffic stops declined as a result and was more targeted instead (thus the decline isn’t a relevant metric).

CM Benton questions what enforcement capacity NDOT has. Notes that MNPD traffic stops have declined, which he sees as a bad thing.

We have CM Allen rising to support deferral. CM Kupin rises to withdraw the motion to defer.
021
Middle Tennessee DSA @midtndsa.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
CM Bradford says that Council would be complicit if this doesn’t pass. Like the others before him, appreciates Kupin putting forth the bill, but disagreeing with his deferral.
111
Middle Tennessee DSA @midtndsa.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
CM Sepulveda is speaking out against deferring RS2026-2064 (CM Kupin’s bill) to work towards eliminating pedestrian deaths. She says NDOT needs to do better, who had asked for more time. CM Welsch and Evans join, Evans noting that depts can defer items into oblivion.

One of our speakers tonight is visiting from Memphis, an important reminder that the harm as already in Tennessee today. He asks the Council to go further in regulating them, including environmental impact report requirements.

Middle Tennessee DSA @midtndsa.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
Among them, @themanaen.bsky.social also warned against deferring the bill, which would give DC Blox (behind the zoo data center) more time to try and skirt regulation for their own benefit.
111
Middle Tennessee DSA @midtndsa.bsky.social · 22/07/2026
For public comment, several Nashvillians spoke in support of the bill to regulate data centers in the city, citing the harm to residents here, the water table, and the animals in the zoo neighboring one of the two proposed data center sites.

Tonight at Nashville Metro Council, we’re seeing the third reading for BL2026-1391 and -1392. After passing this reading, the legislation goes into effect. There are a large number of amendments on deck as well: nashville.legistar.com/gateway.aspx...

VM notes that just sponsors alone voting would mean that the bill would pass. [cheers] She notes that with the number of speakers with two minutes each would mean the hearing could go for eight hours. [more cheers]
