Two elders of First Nation killed in Delta, B.C. during National Day of Truth and Reconciliation event this morning. 🧡🙏🏼🧡 #TruthandReconciliation #TsawwassenFirstNation #Delta #Tsawwassen
A screenshot from a Winnipeg Free Press news article, titled "Two elders of First Nation killed in Delta, B.C., mall crash, two more hurt," by Darryl Greer, The Canadian Press, posted 1:48pm CDT on Wednesday, Sep. 30, 2026. The article confirms 2 elders were killed in the incident.

Police said the injured were treated at the scene by ambulance teams and taken to hospital.

“Preliminary information indicates the driver of the involved vehicle may have experienced a medical emergency prior to the collision,” they said in a statement.

There was no ongoing public safety risk, and police said the crash was not related to the event being held by the community to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The Nation then cancelled events planned to mark the day.

“Tsawwassen First Nation is deeply saddened to confirm that an incident occurred during today’s Truth and Reconciliation Walk,” it said in a statement.

The call for help went out about 10:30 a.m., and the Provincial Health Services Authority said it sent 12 ground ambulances and two helicopters. A screenshot of a New York Times news article from today, September 30th, 2026, titled "Driver Strikes 4 People Outside a Mall in British Columbia,Killing 2, Police Say."

The italicized subtitle reads "The incident occurred as hundreds of people were gathering nearby for a National Day of Truth and Reconciliation march near Delta, a city South of Vancouver, the authorities said."

The crash occurred around 10:25am (Pacific time) in the parking lot of Tsawwassen Mills shopping center.

This is #Secwepemculecw, the land I belong to. It fills me with deep joy, strength, & belonging, no matter where I am. I am #Secwepemc. All of the fierce joy, love, & strength I feel from, my relationship to land, speaking our language, & (re)connection to my relations is deeper than their hate.

It gives me a kind of deep joy that only comes from reconnecting, from living our language and culture. It brings me Home to Secwépemcul'ecw even when I can't be there in person. No matter how much hate is brought down on us, no matter how hard they try, they can't take away that joy & love. 🙌🏼🤲🏼👊🏼4/4

I won't be posting any more about what has happened today back home in Secwépemcul'ecw. Violent racism has taken enough cultural joy from me, my family, and my people. Tonight, I stop responding to the hate, and trying to reason with the hateful and willfully ignorant. Tonight is for joy. 1/

Racism has become socially acceptable. It's time to revoke the social license to hate. #OrangeShirtDay & the weeks leading up to it should not mean more labour & risk for #Indigenous people to fight against hate. It's not a vacation day or a day for non-Indigenous people to profit off. Step up.

A screenshot of a post on the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc Facebook page, with a statement regarding the presence of the White supremacist group the Second Sons on reserve and in community today, September 27, 2026. It reads:

Message from the Office of the Chief | September 27, 2026

Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc is aware that individuals associated with Second Sons Canada, a group linked to white supremacist and white nationalist ideology, have been seen in our community. Chief and Council are taking this seriously. We are monitoring the situation, assessing additional security measures and working with the RCMP.

Please do not approach or confront individuals associated with this group. Report suspicious or concerning activity to the RCMP and reference Police File 26-32569. Photo by CJ Cruise, taken on September 27, 2026 and originally shared on the same day by Cam Gottfriedson on Facebook, of the men's only White Supremacist group, the "Second Sons" practicing drills on Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc reserve land, near the on-reserve RCMP detachment.

A video was later posted by Trinity Diehl in the comments under the picture shared on the "WTF Kamloops" Facebook group, showing them doing military-like drills.

The police are now aware, and reports state the group moved into the city of Kamloops and started demonstrating on bridges, hanging a banner that reads "got bones?" The slogan is used by the group and its supporters to target, mock, and cast doubt on the ongoing investigations into unmarked graves at former residential school sites, like at the former residential school on Tk'emlúps land, and to promote residential school denialism.

Police file # 26-32569.

Another racist tweet by my neighbour MLA tara armstrong. 😠 Aboriginal title is not a leftist invention. It’s constitutional law. Reconciliation is a commitment to justice. Calling for removal of constitutional rights based on race is racism.
Screenshot of a racist tweet by MLA Tara Armstrong. The tweet says that if people want their city to look like a local “Indian reserve,” they should give control to those who run the reserve. It claims leftist politicians and judges have been implementing this plan for 50 years, says there is no need for reconciliation, and calls for repealing DRIPA and removing Aboriginal title from Canada’s Constitution, suggesting B.C. independence as an alternative.

"Blood & Soil" was adopted by the Nazi Party & subsequent neo-Nazi movements. It's a fundamental concept of Nazism. DARVOing Indigenous rights using Nazi ideology. To hear it spoken in the BC Legislature by an MLA is very, very bad.
Post from Tara Armstrong on X

The NDP are blood and soil nationalists for the Indigenous. That's why they embedded UNDRIP, which is an ethno-nationalist declaration, into its two latest treaties.

A screenshot of an unsolicited direct message from a self-defense business, "Victoria Professional Self Defence," responding to a comment on their ad regarding paid self-defense courses for women. The semi-serious comment was about how they should have a class where they charge men to learn how not to be r@pists and use that money to find free self-defense classes for women. Instead of acknowledging the continued inequity of making women pay for the harms caused by men and how deliberately profiting off of the news of the "rapist academy" is ironically despicable, they decided to (I ironically) send an unsolicited direct message to a woman, mansplaining how businesses and capitalism works.
